Anyone seen Rummy lately?
Yeah, neither have I.

Remember when they used to trot the old fool out to shoot down any speculation on the latest horror?

All that rapier-like wit and his bullshit Cult of Personality?

No mas.

That Show is so Over.

1. I don't know but a caller on LKing just called him (Rumsfeld) a coward
because he appeared on King's show without taking calls. :)

11. He plays here pretty regularly (a town of 5,000)
Schoenberg Guitars (OM28.com).

I have a George Washburn New Model (1862) that I took to Elderly in Lansing, Michigan, to have the neck reset. I was living in Dallas at the time.
The luthier looked at the guitar and asked his assistant for Eric Schoenberg's number because the dude was afraid of the guitar (there are only two known to exist with original tooled leather cases - mine and James Taylor's). So I flew back to Dallas with it.

The day after I moved to Tiburon, I went down the hill and walked along our tiny Main Street.

Saw a sign - 'Eric Shoenberg - Guitars'. Blown completely away.

So Eric books great players into this place that seats 20 (that's right - twenty people) to see people like Leo Kottke, Roy Bookbinder, Del Rey, Jorma, etc.

BTW, 'Lamp Trimmed and Burnin' was originally by the great Blind Willie Johnson. He makes Robert Johnson look like a lightweight (no offense, here, I also love Johnson).
If you like, I will dig back into my collection and tell you which Blind Willie to get.

17. Holy shit! How did you come to own that guitar? I'd like to hear
the story. (I do have a handmade Yairi, which I can't bear to part with even though I can't play anymore, but that's NOTHING lke your Washburn.)

I didn't know that Tiburon was such a small town (even though I think I've been through there; I'll have to check the map and give my memory a kick)...boy damn, would I love to go to one of those 20-seat shows. But then maybe not; I don't see much live acoustic music anymore, because it makes me nuts that I can't play, and I go home and try, and well...you know.

I knew that "T & B" was an old song, but did not know whose. Thanks for letting me know something that I didn'tknow this morning.

12. He's too busy with his Stratego board, planning the Iran invasion...
Rummy's a military genius in his own mind. He's got his 'No Fat, Light N' Fleet!' Armies to play with, so no time to dally!

JMJ, I hope the Generals wake up and take his goddamn tin soldiers away before they start WWIII...

14. Stratego board...
I think you just won my Pulitzer vote.

But I question your 'tin soldiers' theory.

I am convinced Rummy is making his plans with 'imaginary soldiers'.

Remember when P Robertson said that georgie had told him we wouldn't suffer any casualties?

You cannot kill an imaginary soldier. Heck, you can't even tip 'em over.

16. Well, that's assuming that Rummy hasn't formed his own army on the side...
...like Palpatine. They aren't robots or clones, but in essence that's what they're doing with the tens of thousands of mercs. What was the last count - 40000? Is there really a firm number that we can rely upon? Would they even report it with all the off the book accounting that the DoD does?

I won't be surprised to learn that he's got a little army all set to go overseas, built from MEK, PKK and any other hire to kill soldiers he could find.

15. I still expect Rumsfeld to say at some point:
'If ever it starts to show that we're doing anything in Iraq other than undertaking a humanitarian mission, you can call me Meier'
