Bush gets PDB: Bin Laden Determined To Strike in U.S. and stays on vacation
http://www.sourcewatch.org/index.php?title=August_6%2C_2001%2C_President's_Daily_Briefing_Memo

Officials, who "would only discuss the senior executives' memo on condition of anonymity because it remain{ed} classified," reported that the August 7, 2001, brief did not mention:
"70 FBI investigations into possible al-Qaida activity that the president had been told of a day earlier in a top-secret memo titled Bin Laden Determined To Strike in U.S.

But to involve himself in the tragic personal Schiavo family matter he cut his vacation short and comes running back to Washington to make his wing nut base happy?

Supporters Praise Bush's Swift Return to Washington
By ELISABETH BUMILLER

Published: March 21, 2005

WASHINGTON, March 20 - For days, President Bush kept his public distance from the Terri Schiavo case and let his spokesman deliver mild statements suggesting that the president did not want Ms. Schiavo, who has severe brain damage, to die. But on Saturday night, when Mr. Bush made the rare decision to interrupt his Texas vacation and rush back to Washington to be in place to sign a bill that could restore Ms. Schiavo's feeding tube, the White House said that the issue had become one of "defending life," and that time was of the essence.

And the Dem's haven't thought of making this one of their most often used talking points? WTF? No Dem should ever appear on TV and not mention this as often as possible. The Dem's need to exploit easy to understand issues like this. This is the kind of thing that will get Bush's poll numbers into the teens if used correctly.

5. This is news to you? Democrats with courage are not running for President.
And again, I explain it...ALL the currently approved candidates don't have the courage or the desire to confront the Bush Administration on this stuff.

They are all precisely like the picture on bartcop.com that is forbidden to be reproduced on DU, with all the main Democrats (including Kerry and Gore) dancing in pink tutu's in front of the White House lawn, saying "But we love Dubya! He's our President!"

8. Or de-boned?
These people have the worst priorities, like right now they are playing politics with the Jefferson raid. There couldn't be a worse thing to play politics with. Everything else the Bush Administration has done up to this point has been behind closed doors without anyone's knowledge. The Jefferson raid is BOLD. It was conducted right before the cameras, and everyone knew about it the day after it happened. This is far more important than you or I loosing freedoms, this raid will have a significant impact on the American political process if it is allowed to stand. While the call database is like living in a digital prison, the Jefferson raid does not imply some new unknown technology. I expect abuses with new abilities, it has always happened and always will.

The Jefferson raid could have happened in 1776. It doesn't take a lot of technology to break into a Congressional office. The is why the 219 years it didn't happen actually mean something.

This raid is hard evidence something nefarious is being planned by the executive branch.

11. Its because the Dem's aren't articulating this often enough
The Republicans would have never made that mistake if the situation were reversed and a Dem president stayed on vacation. They would be harping on this constantly.

14. Bush ignored the "Bin Laden Determined to Strike" memo,
but according to Cynthia McKinney, he had 24-hour a day fighter cover
over the Crawford ranch while he ignored it.

http://www.counterpunch.org/mckinney0918.html

Which makes his failure on 9/11 to get out of his chair and ask "Is there
fighter cover over DC?" puzzling. Had he asked that at 9:10, flight 77
could have been stopped.

Condi lied to the faces of the 9/11 widows when she said the
"Bin Laden Determined to Strike" memo did not warn of new
attacks.

17. they were briefed on the threat in JULY - then they split town
They "got out of harm's way." Cheney spent that August in Wyoming. And google "Ashcroft Flying High."

It was a politically damaging move for bush to take that vacation. The month-long vacation was last minute, it was unplanned, it was unprecedented.

And remember when Condi said they thought it would only be "conventional" hijackings?
