That's what i say,too..vote,and register everyone you can
I add a blurb to my ltte's to get people to vote...an example:
-snip
Register to vote here: http://www.sos.state.tx.us/elections/voter/reqvr.shtml and act to get some competent legislators in there who will either end this war or fight it appropriately, minus the contracts to their friends, with our soldiers and Marines'
safety at the forefront.

Continue to write letters/emails, talk to people, on and on. each day. It
does have an impact, little by little.

credit to the editor of my newspaper for printing most of my letters...my friend tells me their readership is up 15% due to the now-lively opinion page we have created with our banter with the neo-cons.

4. Start off by throwing a large rock
Through the windshield of every car you see with a Bush sticker. Then take an "Impeach Bush" sticker and paste it over the Bush sticker.

It won't stop the war nor it won't get him impeached, but it would definitely send out a message.

10. REVOLT!
Good Gaia!

We simply CANNOT allow pessism, defeatism, or cynicism to discourage us from doing WHATEVER we can to rid ourselves of the tyrannical, corrupt, arrogant, white-frat-boy-led Bush cabal regime!!

Do you think that for one minute the people who founded this country (and, yes, I know they were misogynisitc, slave-owning racists and rapists) would have sit back and said of George III, "Can't impeach him, Can't stop his stupid war, what the hell can we do??""

HELL NO! They would have revolted -- in fact -- they DID revolt!

Take it to the streets! Organize! Get out the vote! Support other progressive causes, even if it is not your progressive cause! Get off your ass!

REVOLT!!!

14. I'm sure folks in Germany felt that way once upon a time, too
Most of all the citizens of this country don't want to be inconvenienced. Hell, we don't even have the national will to organize a general strike. This war goes on because we don't have the national will to stop it, that's all. There are very few of us who, in the scheme of things, aren't culpable to some degree in what's going on -- myself included.

22. La Resistance!!
I don't know how the folks of Germany felt once upon a time.

But I do know that the people of France RESISTED an unelected tyrannical regime.

Not all of the French were part of La Resistance -- some collaborated with the thugs and tyrants.

But those that did resist -- actively resist, at peril to themselves -- in the end succeeded in throwing the corrupt tyrannical thugs out!!

Americans like to say that we somehow "saved" France in WWII. That's BULLSHIT!

The French -- the French who formed La Resistance -- THEY SAVED FRANCE and WESTERN EUROPE!

24. Fact is, Germans did not revolt against nazism,
it took outside intervention to rid them of their tirant.
Even the fall of the Berlin wall was more civil disobedience and borders guards turning a blind eye, than actual revolt by the East Germans.

12. I'm sure we are all wondering..
... just how low can America go? At what point does the rank and file American say "wait just a second here, enough of this bullshit".

We're getting there, but we still have a ways to go. I think the biggest problem is that most Americans don't care about anything that does not affect them economically. Most Americans are not that concerned about the plight of the Iraqis IMHO. They are just ignorant to what is really happening, and why, and at some level most Americans are distrustful of all politicians and the entire process, they know it is all just a big put-on.

I think the bigger question is "what are Americans going to do when they finally accept that their government has actually been hijacked by monied interests?"

One could make up all kinds of scenarios, but who knows.

17. First off, I like the "throw a rock" suggestion, though I would never
do that. Well, maybe.

I also agree that most Americans do not care unless they are personally affected. Hence, the biggest complaint about * has come, not about dead soldiers or drowned Southerners or outed CIA agents, but about gasoline prices.

The selfish focus of Americans was directly expressed to me by a repuke neighbor. I mentioned that I was losing my medical research job because * was dumping $200,000,000 a day into the war machine while slashing research funding. The neighbor said, "So the war has dirctly affected you?" AS if that is the only criterion for judging the policies of the junta. How fucking selfish this country has become!

31. Impeachment should not be our target.
taking over Congress or at least narrow the gap should.

We need to concentrate on issues that matter to most people; health care, jobs, schools, retirements.. All politics are local and we need to talk to the voters in their homes, diners, picnics. Most do not think "big:" impeachment, deficit, even the war in Iraq - unless they know someone who was or is there.

But worrying about being able to pay for health care, for good schools, to retire with dignity is.
