Like only republicans truly "support the troops" and are the only ones qualified to comment on military subjects, bla bla bla.

I won't suffer fools gladly anymore.

1. git em
It's a load of bullcrap anyway. Some of the best wars in history were started (and finished) by Democrats.

3. What's funny is that the argument only works
because we don't hate the troops. I mean if we really hated the troops, why would we care if the Republicans pointed it out? Instead because we support the troops (In the Democratic sense of the word (i.e. using them wisely), we always feel compelled to defend our love of the troops. Kind of ironic.

And annoying as hell, of course.

13. That's the problem with a standing military
filled with professional troops. Something needs to be done with them. All that money invested, it would be crazy for them not to go on this or that mission. They can't just sit there. The same way the $500 billion we spend on military hardware isn't going to just sit on the shelf.

We don't need the Pentagon either, other than for the concentration of military power.

But, these are all problems that have been building for decades, and I don't see anyone running for high office that will dismantle the Pentagon, throw the contractors out, and tell the troops to go home. So we'll have plenty more missions to bitch and protest about in the coming years. Then we'll ask, "why do we not learn from the past?", and say, "they know not what they do", and, "not in my name!!!!!!", and whatever else we like to comfort ourselves with. It'll be a blast.

5. Funny how most of them avoid military service like the plague yet feel
qualified to discuss military service as if they are experts AND people actually listen to them and believe it.

6. I don't hate the military.
I hate that it eats up most of our money and ruins young people's lives.

7. As a former Special Forces soldier...
...I agree with you. It in fact is the Republican't party and the war criminal Bush and Cheneys of the world that mis-use the military and turn people who took an oath to defend this country into their own personal economic mercenaries to us in the conduct of instituting imperialism.

It's time to stop killing and maiming our men and women in uniform behaving them do what they are not in fact in the service to do; defend corporate fascism.

8. If repubs supported the troops, they wouldn't cut veterans' benefits.
It's all a big fucking lie.

9. I am so tired of the fact...
that some right wing fundie asshole can say something like "Liberals hate __________" Fill in the blank with the straw man du jour, and the media just prints it up. Nobody even asks if maybe that might be a little harsh. Nope, our 'liberal MSM' just hates them Repukelicans.

Meanwhile, if a Dem tries to say something in response, THAT is printed as hate speech against our precious RW Fundie assholes. Be nice now. You shouldn't say such things. :puke:

10. Typical right wing bullshit
I know many liberals in the military, my father served; is liberal and I was raised with nothing but respect for the military.

I know of a few republicans right here in my office right now and not one of them have served in the military. I know of a few of our guys in the back warehouse that have served and are dems. republicans have big mouths, but can't back it up.

The problem is, they have no real ideas for making this a better country or guiding us to a better future so they have really stupid talking points like "liberals hate the military" and as long as another republican slaps them on the ass and says "Amen" then they feel better about themselves.

If you ever discuss this issue face to face with a republican, the discussion ends quick because they have nothing to back up their claim except a computer full of emails they send to each other that are crammed with almost as much bullshit as they are.

all of the flaming neo-con freepers are chickenhawks, most of the liberal/progressives are veterans.

12. I'm a liberal...in the military.
US Army, active 1997 to present.

And I have to tell you, the tide has definitely shifted. No longer is the POTUS defended with ignorant furor, but rather my brothers and sisters in arms are starting to ask if conservatism is good for this country.

Just had a conversation with a captain a few days ago and we were discussing the subject of the RW-uber Christian agenda. He was vehemently and visibly angry at what they've done and how the POTUS allows them to inject their values with impunity.

14. A friend of mine had a son that was in Iraq, right before the 04 election.
He wrote to her, pleading for her to vote for John Kerry. He said, everyone he knew hated **.

I can't believe the sentiment has changed in his favor.
