Official Apologizes For Saying Bush Should Be Shot Between Eyes
Official Apologizes For Saying Bush Should Be Shot Between Eyes

NEW YORK -- State Comptroller Alan Hevesi publicly apologized Thursday for a "beyond dumb" remark about "putting a bullet between the president's eyes."

Hevesi hastily called a mea culpa press conference hours after putting his foot in his mouth at the Queens College commencement.

The Queens College media relations office said it had videotaped the commencement but could not immediately provide a copy of the tape or a transcript.

At the press conference, a contrite Hevesi repeated what he recalled saying in the speech. The comptroller said he was merely trying to convey that Sen. Charles Schumer has strength and courage to stand up to the president...

5. It was an assinine comment. He should apologize.
Any talk of assassinating a president is replusive--except to rightards when a Democrat is president. It is about the most unDemocratic (big and small D) thing that can happen.

Now if he talked about throwing Bush in jail...

8. And yet, when Jesse Helms did it
during the Clinton presidency, there was no reaction. I don't even think that bloated turd even faked an apology. But, of course, that was a different time. I mean, the man got a blow job!!!

15. For his multiple crimes of omission and commission,...
...it's not only not "assinine" (sic), it would be just. I would celebrate his early shuffling off of this mortal coil, to be honest -- the earlier, the better.

10. A hangman's noose off a very tall bridge
Give him a full pitch of rope to fall before the noose pulls tight.

Then when the hanging takes place, lots of slow motion cameras can
capture the moment when his body, travelling at hmmm... perhaps it should
be on a physics exam. If the total tension of the neck tissues including
the spine supports 800Kn, would his head just come off. And with the proper
slow motion cameras, every thousandth of a second during that meeting with
empirical laws of physics could be recorded.

Of course, this hanging is after the war crimes trial.

16. Physics? Is that one of those "pseudo-sciences"? Sorry,
we in the WH only believe in faith-based evidence and evidenced-based research. And we will define what both faith and evidence are!

18. Perhaps he would fly
Edited on Thu Jun-01-06 05:12 PM by sweetheart
You never know, he might float after you dropp
his body for 200 feet, or perhaps his head would float
imperceptibly for a few hundreths of a second as it snapped
free of the deadweight, popping up like a basketball that
has bounced off the rim on a close shot.

His eyes still filled with that stupid expression, with, for
the first time a hint of curiosity. ;-)

How long does the rope need to be to achieve a clean break
with bush's past? (explain your answer, show all work, use metric)

That is a *perfect* human political biophysics exam question.

11. Damn right he should apologize
Shot between the eyes is too quick. Besides, you have to hit the brain and in shrub that may be a somewhat difficult target, even with contact.

12. Hevesi should have never made a comment like that.
Like it or not, legally elected or not, Bush is occupying the office of President right now, and comments like that are out of line and inappropriate.

Look for Hevesi to turn up dead/missing/beaten soon...

It's not murder, which I DO NOT condone. But damn, wouldn't it be satisfying?

22. A kick in the 'nads works for me. But, be forewarned...
The SS is NOT known for their sense of humor or irony -- as well they shouldn't. Their job is to protect the President, whoever he (or she) may be. This is their job. And, by and large, they do it well.

I don't think dropping 250 pounds of smelly, liquid bull excrement on his head during another "terra, terra, terra" speech counts, though.

14. He probably started out to say something like "I want to commend
your courage in taking a stand against President bush's injudicious policy on such and such" and then "Somebody should put a bullet between his eyes!" came out like a suddenly dislodged hairball.

Another two years of bush and we'll all be raving and twitching like Chief Inspector Dreyfus of the Surete.

23. I think it's really dumb and wrong to suggest harm to the president.
Or to the vice president, for that matter. I suggest, after conviction, that they be exiled to a compound either specially created in the middle of Greenland, on the continent of Antarctica, or on a remote island like St. Helena. No harm should come to them, and they should have everything that a person could want who is shut off from human civilization. Where's the harm in that?

24. I've been checking out the remarks at FreakRepublic:
Here are some of the better ones:

"Sooner or later, the moonbats will start acting upon all this anti-Republican/anti-Conservative stuff."

"Their hate is annihilating them as a political party. No other man has driven liberals to this stage of hysteria and hatred like President Bush. No other President has caused more damage and destruction to the democrats like he has done so far."

Here's my favorite:

"...It's unbelievable that our government is so stupid as to stick its head in the sand over incidents like this. The gubmint should realize that threats of death and violence coming from other Americans does NOT constitute free speech. How long can we get away with ignoring such threats?

Unless it's O'reilly or Coulter any number of Repub Jackasses.

By the way, DU this poll...

State Comptroller Alan Hevesi apologized for a remark about "putting a bullet between the president's eyes." Did he cross the line?

Yes, very much so. 72.1%
Maybe a little. 8.2%
Nah, he was just joking. 19.0%
I'm not sure. 0.7%
