NPR program in Utah: Radio West: 6/1/06: Electronic Voting AUDIO >>>>
SALT LAKE CITY, UT (2006-05-31) The 2000 Presidential election underscored problems and inefficiencies in the US electoral system. It forced officials to rethink the voting process and to begin replacing outdated methods. Critics of new electronic technology worry though about ease of use, security, poll worker training and more. Doug is joined by the University of Utah's Thad Hall, former Emery County Clerk Bruce Funk and Salt Lake County Clerk Sherrie Swenson for a look at the evolution of electronic voting and the disputes of a developing system.

Bruce Funk was Emery County's County Clerk for 25 some odd years - he was ousted, locks changed on his office, after wanting to inspect the Diebold machines. Not sure how that can happen since he was elected.

2. K & R. Readers should also see another helderheid thread on this:

thread title (5-31-06): Electronic Voting Machine Study Exposes Most Serious Security Flaws Ever

Extremely scary, very depressing. The whole story must be publicized.

Has this been sent to BradBlog? I just checked there (http://www.bradblog.com) and didn't see this story in the last couple of days' listings.
