Impeaching with the Resident - poem

Substantiating Evidence (part 1)
Impeaching with the Resident
by MORT SUBIET

Mort Subiet: You and your Residential administration have been accused of abuses of power and corruption, warrant-less wiretapping of citizens, misstatement of facts and figures, manipulation of intelligence reports, aide scandals leaking covert identities, aggressively waging preemptive war, countenancing torture, and evangelized retaliations against your critics. What do you have to say about all of this?

The Resident: "Getting uh, back to, uh, this, I've got lots of sleeping equanimity and optimistic diplomatic sloganeering reconstruction strategy on my mind these days. Please, no hand gestures -- I refuse to make decisions based on dead American troops. I am confident that I'm optimistic and I'm going to announce it on the Terrorist Surveillance Program -- I don't want to keep repeating myself."

Mort Subiet: What exactly does this mean?

The Resident: "National doctrines of preemptive war bring changes around the world. This expands the framework of containment and we certainty can't afford to stand idly by at news conferences. We have to understand that preemption underscores a more thematic strategy while we hedge against other possibilities. Specialists in the field tell me not to waste my time and just subdivide the deaths into categories.

Mort Subiet: Is there any substantial evidence for your impeachment?

The Resident: "Eaves dropping talk radio mishmash. When the moment of truth comes I and my administration will be ready. Violence is encouraging progress because we've got a strategy where everything you may have heard is simply not true. My job is to explain my mind. I'm going to say it again, see, I'm telling you what's on my mind. Do we really have to get into to
this impeachment thing?"

Mort Subiet: Please, no hand gestures.

Time to Get Goin' (part 2)
Impeaching with the Resident
by MORT SUBIET

Mort Subiet: Your relentless crusade to spread democracy in Iraq is out of hand. What do you have to say to your newest constituency?

The Resident: "I want the Iraqi people to hear I've got confidence in their capacity to get goin' -- it's about time they got it together. If democracy fails to provide the resources to eliminate and ensure a redeployment of dependence these mixed messages are heading in the wrong direction."

Mort Subiet: But the Iraqi people have never really governed themselves.

The Resident: "They have some catchy sound bites to go ahead with things. I believe that people are going to look back on reports that are being completely distorted. I honestly don't care much about these matters -- I look at the democratic mechanisms instead."

Mort Subiet: You recently sent a letter to Iraq's supreme Shiite, Ayatollah Ali al-Sistani. It was hand-delivered this week -- but it reportedly sits on his desk unread and untranslated. What are you going to do about this?

The Resident: "I plan to detonate a big ole' explosive charge called "Divine Strike" -- sending a message that will echo all around the world. I don't want to sound glib but this will be the first time you'll see a mushroom cloud since we stopped using nuclear weapons. But don't worry, we're making sure Las Vegans and the Ayatollah understand what we're capable of doing in a democracy."

Mort Subiet: Have you ever considered impeaching yourself?

The Resident: "Peaches? What's the matter with the peaches?

Mort Subiet: I'll take that as an unempathetic "No."

New Clear After Thoughts:
Impeaching with the Resident
By MORT SUBIET

Mort Subiet: Rumors abound that you've been
leaking yourself. How do you explain this?

The Resident : "I'm in perfect health. I ride my mountain
bike all over the Hill -- this buck doesn't stop anywhere.

Mort Subiet: I was asking you about "intelligence."

The Resident: "I have always stood against leakers, and
if I leaked myself why is this different than any other leak?

Mort Subiet: I might offer up the the recently exposed
Gospel of Judas Iscariot. Apparently he "betrayed" Jesus
because Jesus asked him to. Is this what you did with
"Scooter" Libby?

The Resident: "I understand that these can be conflated,
but the copies of any traceable documentation have been
destroyed. Let's get on to another question.

Mort Subiet: The U.S. built its last nuclear weapon in 1989
and last tested a weapon underground in 1992. Have you
given any significant thought to your "Divine Strike"
exercise in Arizona?

The Resident: "Yes, I'm planning a complex blueprint to
realign plutonium laboratories surrounded by residential
neighborhoods -- the old ones aren't very reliable.

Mort Subiet: But doesn't this violate human rights, not to
mention encourage more and more global terror?

The Resident: "Not a problem. I decided to forgo sitting on
the new U.N. Human Rights Council.

Mort Subiet: Most humans will be rightfully dismayed by this.

The Resident: "Get your clock set sonny, this is only April."

Mort Subiet: Given the recent announcement that Iran is enrich-
ing uranium don't you think your nuclear ambition is approaching
a point of no return?

The Resident: This is tactical wrong direction altogether. I use
this series of simple configurations.

PsyOpathics

The calculus of military 1st strike.
The trigonometry of subterfuge.
The geometry of need-to-know.
The algebra of blind faith.
The addition & subtraction of power.

* Ed. This is a complex and uncertain process --
terminate Residential view here.
