Poll question: Quick DU Straw Poll for '08 (you know you love 'em!)
Who's DU's pick for the nominee in '08 right here, right now? Just hoping to get a snapshot of where we are. Prospective candidates are listed alphabetically, without comment. I promise not to try to talk anybody into (or out of) anything! Apologies if I've left your favorite out--respond soon enough and I'll add them. Write-ins also accepted!

4. Please watch Road to the White House tonight on cspan.
I understand cspan will also have the video available on their web site.

Finegold was on first and Warner second. He was very impressive tonight when speaking at the NH Dem convention.

7. Feingold or Warner?
I've heard/seen/met Russ and he's very good--don't know much about Warner.

15. Warner. sorry, I wan's very specific, huh? Russ did a good job,
but, I think Warner did better.

I like Gore, but I really don't think he want's to go through the agrivation of another campaign, and I don't blame him at all! I often wonder why anyone would want to do that!!!!

I also listented to him on "This Week" this morning. He says the right things, but he's STILL not confortable in front of a camera. That's not a good sign for a Presidential candidate.

9. Not only great, but brave and brilliant, and he knew how to work with
republicans. He was on many important committees and knows a LOT about what is happening to us as a nation right now.

I would hit the streets to support Bob Graham... and Al Gore.

6. Russ is the best fit distinguishing us from the corrupt GOP
Politics is all about money power and how they are distributed. This is why Russ's history on campaign finance reform puts him in the best position as a beacon of light to the dark corruption of the GOP.

12. Boy, has Gore resurrected himself lately or what?
A few months ago, this would have been a Clark landslide.

WOuld a Gore/Clark ticket be implausible?

Too conservative? Too Southern? Unbeatable?

I have no idea...

16. How dare you think about 2008 in 2006!!! Thinking two things is TOO hard!
Edited on Sun Jun-04-06 10:27 PM by Rowdyboy
What gives you the right to think for yourself!

I'm sorry, but every thread on 2008 has to have at least one asshole responding who criticizes the OP for daring to think past the 2006 election. I think its in the DU bylaws.

Personally, I love 2008 threads and I voted Wes Clark but Feingold, Edwards etc are also okay by me.

20. He really did a good job on cspan Road to the White House tonight.
Edited on Sun Jun-04-06 11:18 PM by napi21
If you listened, you'd see he touched on almost every subject..even the "values" thing. He said, "A lot of people say we need to concentrate on values. Well we need to concentrate on AMERICAN VALUES"!

I sure can't remember everything he spoke about, but it's worth the listen!

Cspan said RTTWH would be available on their web site so take a look. Might not be until tomorrow though since they're replaying it tonight...late at least in EST.

edited for spelling...AGAIN!

23. I could go for Barbara Boxer.
She won re-election in 2004 by a landslide. Her competence and integrity are pretty impressive. But winning in California is one thing, Winning in Dumbfuckistan is another. Are they ready to vote for a woman, let alone a liberal woman? She would have to do a lot of the posturing Hillary is doing, annd even then I don't know if it would work.

But I'm smitten enough with her and grateful enough for her service that I would go along with it. It would be worth a shot.

24. Wes 08!!!
We Dems NEED a progressive career military candidate
to counter the freep argument(albeit, uh, a freeper
argument) that we're soft in defense. Having said that,
Wes has his shit together-one doesn't get those 4 stars
by being a wishy-washy wuss.

That would give Clark the in for a 2012 or 2016 Presidential run himself.

29. Indeed it would. He'd pick up a lot of experience as a public servant
dealing with intense, partisan scrutiny. It would make him a much more viable candidate for the top slot, IMO.

But, you know, those are the only 2 votes that count. :eyes: The rest of us don't know what the hell we're doing.
