Crazy freep-think: "allowing gays to marry will lead to other things"

I have heard this reasoning today. That giving gays this right will be a slippery slope and will lead to legalizing other "unchristian" practices like polygamy and incestuous relationships.

What are these freaks so afraid of????

I was only joking. Sort of. But this whole argument is just inherently pointless. Who cares if people in India want to marry a cobra? That's none of my, or the government's business.

Otherwise they wouldn't be so afraid of things that might tempt them.

If three, four or five+ consenting adults want to engage in cohabitation, sexual relationships and other "marital" interactions with each other, who am I to stop them. Its okay for these people to do these things as long as they don't claim to be married. So three plus people "living in sin" is okay, but when they try to marry it becomes polygamy and is somehow bad. What is bad about polygamy and incest is the sexual abuse and physical abuse that often accompanies the lifestyles. If there is coersion of minors or any type of child abuse, it must eb stopped. There are laws protecting minors which should be enforced. If there is physical, mental, emotional or sexual abuse of an adult, criminal laws protecting people should be enforced. If consenting adults of sound mind choose to engage is relationships with multiple partners or with a sibling or other relative, I say let them do what they want. I don't want anyone judging what my wife and I do, I won't judge what others do, as long as there is no coersion or physical, mental, sexual or emotional abuse.

Not too many people would willingly enter into a polygamous union. That's why it's generally a coercive thing in the few communities in this country where it is practiced. So unless they think marrying your 14 year old niece against her will is going to become legal....oh wait...They'd probably like that!
