Baghdad Burning tells more truth than
what you hear out of the MSM or the Christian right. Read several of them to see if bush's picture of Iraq has anything to do with reality as seen by someone living in Iraq. The May 31st will give you an idea what America will be like when or if the Christian right takes full control.

Bad Day...
It’s been a horrible day. We woke up to unbearable heat. Our area averages about 4 hours electricity daily and the rest is generator electricity, which means we can use our ceiling fans, but there’s no way we can use air conditioners.

We woke up to an ominous silence- an indicator that the generator isn’t working. E. went next door to check and got a confirmation. It might not work all day. The neighbor responsible for it was going to bring by the ‘generator doctor’ as soon as he was free.

The electricity came at 6 pm for only twenty minutes- as if to taunt us. The moment the lights flickered on, we were gathered in the kitchen and we could hear the neighborhood children began to hoot and holler with joy.

Before that, we heard the news about the dozens abducted from the Salhiya area in Baghdad. Salhiya is a busy area where many travel agencies have offices. It has been particularly busy since the war because people who want to leave to Jordan and Syria all make their reservations from one office or another in that area.

1. A lot of Iraqis tell the truth but
You won't see them on the "liberal" media.

Instead we have partisan hacks debating what's best for their party come 2006 elections (other than what's actually right for the Iraqis).

4. Media ignores Iraqis-repeats spin of greenzone out of touch reporters
For along time now the MSM ( not all) have ignored the many credible reports of abuses, and killings by U.S forces in Iraq. They call this balance getting both sides of the stories. Why would you not get the stories from the people who are mostly affected by the war?---the victims point of view and not the occupiers.
It was not journalists that discovered the abuses--ie Torture at Abu Graib prison . The story was exposed because of the pictures sent via E-mail, and cell phones

As usual the media ignored credible eye witness accounts by the Iraqis.

phone them- e- mail them- text message--your local talk crap radio, Tv station, and newspaper and berate them-----SHAME on YOU!

5. Baghdad Burning wasn't writing for several weeks
in May and I wondered if anything had happened to her. This is the first time she truly seems worried about their safety and the prospects for her country. If this isn't civil war/genocide please explain mr boosh. Our country did this to them and we should feel responsible. You're doing a good job Rummy -----

6. I always worry about her when she doesn't
post for a period of time. It might have something to do with having electricity when inspiration hits.

7. I was thinking the same thing a few days ago. Worrying...
Glad to see she's still able to connect, but the whole debacle really does appear to be worsening. Damn.

11. That is coming to an end. With the fundies taking control, women
will not be allowed an education.
