The Dixie Chicks and Ann Coulter
What's the connection? The Dixie Chicks criticized George W Bush and were ostracized around the nation. Many conservatives said they should not exercise their "free speech" unless they want other to express their free speech in opposing them. In other words, if you criticize our Great Leader, we have the right to destroy you and your career, in the defense of "free speech". Obviously an argument that never made sense to me.

But now, we have Ann Coulter coming out with yet another book to slam "liberals" and making comments that are so vicious and hateful that no thinking American could support her. Will her career be threatened as was the Dixie Chicks? Will she be banned from the right-wing radio and TV shows? Will she have to come out with a new book explaining why she did what she did? I know this is small news compared to the martyrdom of Zarqawi but a point I thought worth making...

1. I'm wondering if this will be the breaking point for Repukes.
They've been shying away from her and her comments, but this one definitely takes the cake.

I'm STILL reeling from her comments.......what an absolute BITCH!!!! If there is a hell, she will definitely make it more intolerable.

6. The idiot who was on Scarborough the other nigh
saying that Gay Marriage is five times more dangerous to America than terrorism or the war in Iraq was on again with a host of Air America. The Air America guy was seriously pissed. He said repeatedly that Ann Coulter is the new face of the Republican party. She represents their new values and that it is was good that the other guy was embracing her comments, as it is true that they think that way.

10. I watched that show too.
The only problem I had with Mike Papantonio (Air America) is that he was TOO pissed. I could almost see the spittle shooting out of his mouth. But Joe did tell this Burkman that he's backing the wrong horse.

Coulter was commenting about why do liberals always get these "jersey girls" etc to make the point. She forgets that repukes used the swift boaters against Kerry, and a video-diagnosis doctor to pull for keeping a brain dead woman alive, amongst other things.

11. I liked Papantonio's passion -
no one could accuse him of being a weak-kneed Dem.

Perhaps we need more people pissed off over real issues on TV; then the scaredy-cats in America would believe that the Dems can protect them???

2. They secretly admire and love Ann. But even the Rethugs can't
take this rot from their darling.

3. Of course neocons/fundies will try to distance themselves from...........
.....Mann Coulter but we all need to remind everyone that even if Mann Coulter isn't around that thing's mentality will always remain. Remind everyone that it's not the figure in front of the camera that's important it's all the lies each and every neocon/fundie spews forth every day that counts.

4. I blame the media for giving her a forum
She should be in the same category as the Klan.

The last time I saw them was on an old Jerry Springer show. ManAnn

can share a stage with them.

5. I think she should be on as much as possible.
She exposes the right-wing nuts for what they truly are - nuts! Average people (whoever they are) watching her talk to Matt Lauer were undoubtedly horrified at the hateful words of this androgynous ass.

If McKinney briefly made "our side" look bad, imagine what this barrage of hate and vitriol does for "them"!

7. It's not the shock value...it's the packaging.
She is toxic waste in long blonde hair, designer clothes and spike heels...and face it, our society today appreciates the anorexic look.
:puke:
If she was ordinary looking, or downright unattractive or (gasp) overweight she'd barely be a blip on the radar.

8. ABC WNT had a report last night saying that this happens all the time
http://abcnews.go.com/Politics/story?id=2050524&page=2

That article is not the same report-the video is probably the report they had on last night.

9. But that *IS* her career.
The Chicks suffered because they are talented musicians who made a political comment. Coulter has no discernable talents, unless you consider offending people a talent.

So of course she won't suffer. Her lemmings want more and more of her two-minute hates.

15. I disagree. She put her foot in the meat grinder this time
Only the truly insane will excuse this crap. Even if they secretly agree with her, she's now radioactive to the right.

12. Free speech means free speech, PERIOD
There are no asterisks next to the 1st Amendment in the Constitution. I hate it when people say something doesn't count as free speech because it's ultra-violent, it depicts gratuitous sex, it's a videogame and not a form of speech, it makes Der Fuehrer feel unloved in a time of war, etc. Hell, the 1st Amendment allows the KKK to hold rallies in black neighborhoods and the Phelps klan to picket funerals, which is about as odious as the contents of Coulter's books. The only time free speech should at least be monitored is when it clearly attempts to incite violence, which is exactly what RW hate speech does.

14. I saw this on another
board..it's what Dave Letterman had to say about anthrax last night..

"Good to see Letterman hit Coulter hard tonight: “...didja hear Al Gore is making a movie about Ann Coulter? It called ‘An Inconvenient Bitch.’ ” And: “...Ann Coulter is a single blond…maybe we can fix her up with O.J….”
