FMA Defeat - Canary in the Message Boards
Edited on Thu Jun-08-06 02:31 PM by LeftHander
Whenever a big issue dies in the media it is like the canary in the coal mine. An alert to a deadly poison in the coal mines. In the coal mine that the GOP operates having a same sex marriage ban's rotting corpse in the media was not the right corpse to have. Enter a dead terrorist, Al-Zarqawi and living dead, conservative mouth piece, Ann Coulter.

So for me when an issue is "killed" in the press as quickly as the FMA failure was that tells me the issue needed to be killed. We all know engineered distraction is the best method to control the message and the more outrageous the event the easier it is to maintain control. Had there been a natural disaster no one would be asking or commenting on the FMA's demise disappearance. But here was a organized strike no doubt done with months of advance preparation. Certainly many opportunities existed to take Al-Zarqawi out but first a obvious Psy-Op campaign was waged to bolster his importance. The evidence of which is easily found on this board and across the internet.

Within hours after the failed cloture vote in the senate conservative pundits and the military moved to strike a media blow. It was first led by Ann Coulter who in rare form also managed to knock most headlines off the front pages and gather the attention of congress to be publicly admonished by Democrats for her vitriolic statements concerning the 911 widows.

It is plausible that Al-Zarqawi was a "deadman walking" and the order to move on him could of come at anytime. It is possible Coulter's book release, Frist's scheduling of the FMA and Al-Zarqawri's death strike was perfectly timed to minimize political damage caused by the placating of the GOP base with the gay marriage ban. To me anything is possible. All I know is that an opportunity to cause real harm to the neo-cons and advance marriage equity has slipped through the fingers of us all who support fairness and equality, only to replaced by the bloated face of a dead terrorist in an oak frame and a vile blond's hate speech. With words of "discrimination" still on our lips...we stand saying "What the Fuck" as Ann Coulture spits on 911 widows, at us and Al-Zarqari's dead face sits matted and framed in oak as it is worshiped by the media.

The White House knew there was not enough support for the FMA just as Frist knew it would not make it to a vote. It was planned to get out of committee, Bush's base was becoming restless at his failure to support them on the issues that garnered the support in the first place. FMA was plain a simple a pandering event that was required but also required immediate damage control by the White House.

AFM was needed to placate the religious base of the GOP. Coulter and the military helped the effort and covered the damage. Everybody wins, everybody that is except you and me. We get to suffer through the backslapping, glad handing war Hawks and the vitriolic Ann Coulter as she places herself in the public eye to sell her foul book and fill the public airwaves with her hateful rhetoric.

The AFM story is the dead canary in the cage and any momentum and ammunition for the media to question the White House's motive in pushing it was effectively blown up with a bomb dropped on a puffed up terrorist in Iraq and by the outrageous comments from a vile media opportunist. "Kwinky-Dink"? Maybe so. But how many more of these need to occur before it looks engineered?

At least we know where the conservatives are weak. The FMA story damage control has showed us the a foul vulnerability of the GOP. Under the armour of the media the GOP is based in a true hatred of the idea of same sex marriage. They will be forced to expose it again before November and people will be ready to strike the exposed rotten flesh before the media manipulators charge the distraction shield.

The FMA defeat, a soup with a blond hair in it that tastes of dead terrorist.
