Why I believe Bill Clinton was and still is loved in the world

President Clinton can come to Canada or go anywhere in the world, and be welcomed by cheering crowds. The same cannot be said of George Bush, who is greeted with anti-Bush demonstrations everywhere.
I believe the main reason is that Clinton considers the U.S.A. to be a great country, but realizes it is one country among many.... The Bush administration, on the other hand, considers the U.S.A. to be THE country, meant to be over all the others.....
We, in the rest of the world realize that the U.S.A. is the most powerful country in the world today. Until the Bushies took over, we were secure with that knowledge. Now, I believe many countries are uneasy and some even afraid of what the U.S.A. will do with that power.
I never, ever, thought I would fear the U.S.A., but now, I'm not exactly afraid, but I am apprehensive. I hate having to feel that way. I live in a town in southern Ontario, not too far from the New York state border and all my life, Canadians and Americans have gone back and forth across that border with ease and in friendship. I personally know of many intermarriages and personal friendships between the two countries.
Now Canada is being branded by Indiana Republican John Hostettler, who is heading a hearing on terrorism, as a breeding ground for terrorists....practically the world headquarters for terrorism!
This ugly message of his will, I fear, get spread among the American population and take hold, just as the false story of the 9/11 terrorists coming from Canada was spread. Many in America still believe it, although it is completely false. NONE of them came from Canada.

I guess the reason I wanted to post this was just to say, how different things would be, in so many ways, if Clinton were still president....:loveya:

I'm apprehensive about the road we're taking too, and I'm from the U.S.!! I'd love to have Bill Clinton back, but I can only hope we get someone like him back in the White House in 2008, like before Bushie drops the bomb (which could happen any day now)!

Senator Clinton and bill clinton could have changed EVERYTHING, yet they sold us down the river. I can't forgive them for siding with the enemy. I was their most staunch and loyal supporter and I feel betrayed.

BUT, he could have stood up and loudly denounced bush's invasion... I truly believe that if clinton had lead a rallying cry to not invade iraq, that the will of the people would have prevented the occupation.

Clinton chose to sit back and do nothing, and worse, even support the bush regime.

I can understand how you have been disappointed in him, but looking at it from the point of view of a non-American, who is mainly interested in how a war would have been prevented....I still believe, from the things I have heard Clinton say, that he would not have gone to war and things would be much different today.
You're right, he has proved to be unwilling or unable to stand up to the Bushes. Perhaps there is a reason for this...All I know is that his reasonable and informed dealings with other countries gave me and many others confidence that he would do the right thing globaly.

Enough of Clintons. Time for our party to move on, not way to the right, but proudly on the LEFT.

although it may seem that way to to you because it really pisses you off. I think Clinton does it in the spirit of bipartisanship and trying to smooth over the rampant partisan divide. He is somewhat of a traditionalist post-presidency. You are taking this way too personally, but that is your prerogative.

But I'd take either of them over any repug any day. Neither would be my first choice in a primary after their betrayal.

He would be a HUGE improvement over the current mess in the White House. Despite his faults, I don't believe anyone can say that Clinton has a desire to remake the world in his image....like the deluded criminal who is currently in office.
