Firedoglake reporting strong source ---- Lieberman
www.firedoglake.com

Jane Hamsher asked Harry Reid (at Yearly Kos) about his support of Lieberman against Ned Lamont. Go read the response. The interesting part was that Jane has a strong rumor from good source that Lieberman will quit the Dem Party in the next few weeks.

What do yall think?

PS....just saw on Talkingpointsmemo.com that Lieberman has signed up to support Net Neutrality. Well.

4. Not sure if that's what Reid meant though
"people should know their actions have consequences" could very well refer to Lamont supporters (as in "you may lose us a senate seat, you idiots")
It's hard for me to buy it that Reid would encourage rebellion.

6. Yeah - the blogger might be the clueless one
Reid's statement could be read several ways,
her interpretation may be wishful thinking.

12. Remember Reid and the other Dem Senators like to play it safe
They have been playing scared rabbit for the last six years. They want a safe seat, one they don't have to defend with very much cash. They would always take a pro-Bush safe Lieberman over a progressive newcomer Lamont.
If you are looking for someone to stand up for the people, you shouldn't be looking at DC congresscritters. Look at Boxer, even she wants the safe bet.

5. I keep thinking about all the dirty tricks and 2000
Joe may have been the dirtiest trick of all prior to 12-12 that year.

9. Yup
Randi Rhodes was telling him the votes weren't registering, voters(like me)were taken off the rolls and that there were problems with the butterfly ballots and he acted as if nothing was wrong-or that he didn't even KNOW.He is a Neo(Nazi)con plant and needs to go...

10. That rumor has
been around for what seems like veritable ages. The question is what purpose it serves.

There may be some unhappiness in the Senator's camp about certain things, but you don't jump on a ship when (some of) the rats are already leaving... or being hauled to jail.

11. I'm still po'd at Ms. Hamsher for her nasty post against Sen. Boxer
Edited on Mon Jun-12-06 09:30 PM by Old Crusoe
over the weekend, but as for matters at hand, it could well be that Lieberman can see that he is up against a well-funded and increasingly well-supported opponent for the August primary.

Joe could go Independent on this one -- or he could do a little two-step and curtsy and run for the REPUBLICAN nomination.

As an Independent, Joe could at least assure that he could make a strong run for re-election. If he remains Dem, Lamont could upset him in August and that would be it for Joe forever.

This could get even more interesting than it already is.

13. I think
Joe is just making threats to scare people into re-electing him. If he ran as an independant many people who still respect him would loathe and hate him. He would have the whole DNC breathing down his neck.

14. Yes -- the DNC wouldn't be that thrilled with Joe if he chose to run as
an Independent.

But Lamont's surge is undeniable, and Joe's internal polling may be telling him his best bet is to appear on the ballot as an Independent rather than as an increasingly vulnerable Democrat in the August primary.

15. FDL needs to get a clue - Boxer was answering to the media,
she did not want to push the myth of Democrats being divided.

Reid was answering to bloggers who dont like Lieberman. He basically said the same thing Boxer said, but to a different audience.

The only cluless person is the FDL blogger who is behaving like another MSM pundit.

As for the "good source", sorry, I have stopped to believe "good sources". May be he will happen, may be not, but as long as the source is anonymous, how can you know what the person agenda is?
