Bush would NEVER allow a free or democratic Iraq. Today's Iraq is one chaotic bloodbath with a small government with no sovereignty. The wishes of the majority of the population are suppressed with an AK47. That's no democracy.

24. Framing of the question
I don't like the way msnbc frames the question. It only asks whether the sacrifice was worth it; it does not ask whether the sacrifice was entirely counterproductive.

If indeed the war is has made us less safe, has set back the idea of democracy in the Middle East and elsewhere . . .

By simply voting that the cost has been too high we risk allowing ourselves to be categorized as appeasers. This is, of course, unfair to us.

So to my mind, when this kind of question is asked, we really owe it to ourselves, our country and our world to not just simply answer, but also to challenge the question.
