A time to worry,
So, we have Rove being cleared. We have Rove in charge of political planning again (even without the title). We have Boy George visiting the troops so long as 70,000 of them are guarding the streets. We have the newsies citing Newt that Bush is back.

why should we worry?

Not because of Bush's actions or the Fitz decision. No, it is something far worse and more dangerous.

It is the lack of conviction, strength and reality in our democratic leadership. If you think that the Iraqi government is shaky and fragile, it is far stronger than the Democratic leadership. My worry is that they will look at these Rovian moves and forget about all the planning, all the decisions, and all the progress they were starting to make.
What worries me is not how the country will react to the GOP ploys, but how our leaders in Congress react.

2. What worries me
Is that we react - in war the side which is sucked into reacting rather than choosing a battleground of its own making has lost half the battle. It is long past due that we Progressives start setting our own agenda rather than allowing Rove (and Lee Atwater before him) to set it for us.
In the Old Days we had backbone.

10. Yes, they sure know how to push our buttons
and we are so easily distracted.

We need to start to create our own reality.

11. With no media access, there's no way to "set the agenda"
We can talk to each other, but that's about it.

3. Shit, you're just now getting worried about this?
Welcome to the world, the problems with the Dem leadership has been apparent since Bushco took office, and before. And the biggest problem is that our entire government has been corrupted by corporate money. That is our biggest problem, and the only way to remedy it is to publicly finance ALL elections, from dogcatcher to president.

Until we do so, we're all going to suffer under the two party/same corporate master system of government, where politicians of both parties do what is best for Corporate America, leaving the rest of us to rot.

5. What leaders?
I'm so fed up with the Dems in Congress, I want them all to resign and make way for new people with spines, ideas, courage, big and loud voices, and the ability to get out among the people of America and shout the message that the Democrats stand for something.

I want candidates with plans and big mouths, strong backs, and relentless intensity.

Surely not the weasels we now have.

12. Pure horseshit
Exactly how are we, or the Dem leaders, supposed to fight off the media hordes that lie daily for the ultra-right? THe fat, ugly coward has decided that he's more of an expert on Iraq than decorated veterans Kerry and Murtha, and the media are buying it. There isn't a damn thing we can do abou that.

The second thing is that it's now clear that the GOP are above any laws. I had hopes that Fitz would actually punish someone for the treason that occurred in the WH, but it's not to be. They have gotten away with treason, they will steal this fall elections, and there is no one to make them obey the law.

13. part of it is attitude. Part of it is anticipating an opponent's moves
and part of it is getting out in the public, holding meetings and talking things up.

Other than that, I agree with your sentiments.

Doing something is far better than cowering like a coward.
