We're jumping on Leopold and Truthout because the mainstream media who has been in bed with Bush all along came out with similarly unnamed sources stating Rove is going to get off scot free. Now last I checked, Fitz is the guy making the call.

The only difference between this and the TO report is more of Bush's media whores ran with it. Both contain unnamed sources and neither is directly quoting Fitz.

As far as I'm concerned we should be passing off the same amount of doubt to this story as the TO story got.

1. You can't get Fitzgerald or his spokesman to comment on anything.
Only when they are ready. I do think he should comment on this new Rove revelation to confirm one way or the other.

exactly letting him off the hook...I think Rove's lawyer is playing some kind of cat & mouse game with
Fitzgerald...

3. unnamed sources? don't think so
Ruskin says he was informed by Fitz. Fitz isn't commenting, which means (a) he isn't confirming and (b)he isn't denying. However, if Ruskin's statement was untrue, then Fitz almost certainly would comment since he could simply say no decision has been made. Fitz's silence speaks volumes. On the other hand, virtually nothing Leopold has written about this has made sense and his sources are indeed very unnamed...

12. Fitz hasn't said anything to confirm any news report...
When the Libby indictment came down they stalked for days on the story in the press and he took his sweet ass time to do it on his terms. He's not going to squash Rove's lawyer in the press because he isn't concerned with the press here, he's concentrating on the investigation itself and what to do next.

Just because he hasn't come out to back Rove's lawyer down doesn't mean a single thing. He didn't come out to refute Leopold either and I don't suspect that he'll ever do something of that nature.

16. but who are the "unnamed" sources?
Edited on Tue Jun-13-06 10:46 AM by onenote
Big difference between TO's "unnamed" sources -- who were indeed unnamed. And the reporting of the current story which isn't based on unnamed sources but on Ruskin, who has identified Fitz as the source. You described the original TO story and the current story as based on "similarly" unnamed sources. That's simply not the case at all.

4. BUZZFLASH JUST SENT AN ALERT : STATEMENT FROM J. WILSONS LAWYER
THIS IS THE LINK BUZZFLASH HAS JUST ALERTED :

Legal Counsel for Joe Wilson and Valerie Plame Issues Statement in Response to Apparent Likelihood that Rove Won't be Indicted: "The day still may come when Mr. Rove and others are called to account in a court of law for their attacks on the Wilsons."

Legal Counsel for Joe Wilson and Valerie Plame Issues Statement in Response to Apparent Likelihood that Rove Won't be Indicted: "The day still may come when Mr. Rove and others are called to account in a court of law for their attacks on the Wilsons."
In response to the news release by Robert Luskin, attorney for Karl Rove, that Rove is not going to be indicted for outing a CIA operative and endangering the national security of the United States or for committing perjury, the attorney for Joe Wilson and Valerie Plame released the following statement, which was transmitted to us:

Statement of Christopher Wolf, Proskauer Rose LLP, Counsel for Ambassador Joseph Wilson and Valerie Plame Wilson:

We have become aware of the communication between Mr. Fitzgerald and Mr. Luskin concerning Karl. Rove's status in the criminal investigation. We have no first-hand knowledge of the reason for the communication or what further developments in the criminal investigation it may signal. While it appears that Mr. Rove will not be called to answer in criminal court for his participation in the wrongful disclosure of Valerie Wilson's classified employment status at the CIA in retaliation against Joe Wilson for questioning the rationale for war in Iraq, that obviously does not end the matter. The day still may come when Mr. Rove and others are called to account in a court of law for their attacks on the Wilsons.

End of Statement

Plus, I know journalists who say Fitz's office is not giving out information. They're professional and they mean business.

Luskin is tipping something...

13. "I don't anticipate" leaves a whole lot of wiggle room.
Even if there was a letter.
"I don't anticipate" having to go to the grocery store this week. Oops. Company's coming, need some X.
Everybody is sooo impatient. :D
