The VA Dem primary is more important than you might think.
First, in the interest of full disclosure, I have known Jim Webb for 20 years, and while we have had our disagreements, he is the real deal. If Harris Miller gets the primary nod, I will certainly vote for him in the general election. But I don't think Miller stands a chance against George Allen, and that's what it all boils down to for me ... George Allen. The racist-grafitti scribbling, Confederate flag waving, noose displaying Allen actually has managed to convince some people that he's a moderate! Worse, he is receiving serious buzz as a likely presidential nominee. I can't speak for everyone, but the thought of a half-bright, boot-wearing, faux cowboy, bullshit artist in the White House sounds way too fucking familiar to me. Jim Webb will nip that in the bud. I believe that he won't just seriously weaken Allen, thus ending any thoughts of a Presidential run, but Jim can actually win the election. I know Jim has some Republican baggage, but I think that could work to our advantage in a general election. Read what John Kerry has to say about him:

1. Kick and Recomended!
Allen is seriously being considered for the Presidency. Senator Webb would end any chance of that happening.

2. Voted for Webb this morning.
Unfortunately, I was only the 26th to vote. We need a bigger turnout.

3. I'll be voting right after work.
Here in northern Virginia they''re expecting about a 3-5% voter turnout. Every vote really does count.

5. Voting for Webb today..
and I think the Democratic Party in Virginia will be able to set aside their differences no matter what happens.

After all, it was just 6 years ago when the Republicans declared the Democratic Party dead in Virginia. I WILL NEVER FORGET.

6. Glad you posted, as I have to keep reminding myself to vote.
I'll take your word that Webb is the real deal -- he hasn't sent me any campaign mail or called, but Harris' mailings have been so negative that they put me off.
