DAN ABRAMS to head MSNBC tv
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/13285722/

<snip>
Abrams, a Duke University graduate with a law degree from Columbia University, began peppering NBC News President Steve Capus with memos about how to improve MSNBC shortly after Capus took over his job about a year ago.

“His memos were thoughtful and insightful and provocative,” Capus said. “There was one that was eight pages long. That was the one that made it clear to me that he was serious about an examination of the channel.”

<snip>
“Over the next few months, you will hopefully see the network become a little more exciting, a little more vibrant and a little more irreverent,” Abrams said.

Irreverent - I guess that means KO stays!

1. Who knows . . .
what "more exciting and vibrant" means to Abrams, who couldn't even get people to watch his show let alone run the day to day operations of a network struggling in the ratings. What in the world is Capus thinking promoting someone with no experience in management? It's truly baffling to me.

2. Can you imagine - writing a couple long-winded memos
and receiving in return, control of a cable news network.

Amazing.

7. I dunno
Abrams may be a bit puppyish, but he is a working journalist who has done a pretty good job with complex legal issues when I have seen him. Which is, admittedly, not often.
