I have to share this discussion I had with my aunt tonight.

She's a registered Republican, but pretty moderate, in my opinion. Turns out she voted for Kerry!

We were talking tonight and she was going off on Bush. She said, "All these people who voted for Bush and lost their pensions and find their jobs in jeopardy...I have no sympathy for them. And all these people who voted for Bush and have kids of draft age? Fuck them. And fuck their kids, too!"

She was mad. LOL

Oh, and she's 63. :) (A pretty "young" 63, I'd say, as she listens to Howard Stern on satellite radio.)

Shame on the women in this country who could have voted this scum bag out of office.

They instead got caught up in the brain dead theory that "bush was going to protect their families".

It's becoming an extremely problematic situation in our society these days...

I agree though - women should be smarter then that but then again - why don't we expect men to be smarter then that also?

This is simply the new corporate bad business ethic coming to roost.
And men will line up by the miles to cash in on that.

Women don't necessarily stand in line like that.
I trust women for the inherent honesty that they possess.
Please don't interpret my post to be anti-women.
It's actually the opposite.

Women are our only real substanitive gut interpretation of the bullshit that is falling in on us like rain.

Loosing our bearings on what is right and wrong.

The best, kindest, most honest and loving, spiritual and wise people I have known have all been women. (I'm certainly not saying all women are like this, of course)

I was especially ashamed that Bush won the married womens vote.

The first few weeks after the election, while I was waiting to get my kindergartener with all the other moms, I had this intense feeling of suspicion and anger that I looked at the other Moms with - that was such a horrible time.

The feelings of mourning and outrage have faded some - or maybe I'm just numb. Plus, I now know some of them were Kerry supporters so that helps.

I don't know who most of them supported - except the one with the W bumper sticker - grrrr.

Why that would make them, well, make them equal to men! Can't have that now can we?

I am 55 and my wife is close to 70. If you can find cooler people go for it. But don't discount us due to our age. We have always been progressive and I don't see that changing. I have been distrustfel of our government since the late 50's and nothing they have done since has caused me to change my mind.

By the way, we find the idea of you having sex, just as repulsive as you find the idea of us having sex...except we are so much better at it.

I think there are a few Republicans she'll vote for, in local races (town council, etc). But nationally, Democrats all the way, so I'm told.

She's big on impeaching Bush so that's a pretty solid bet. :)

My story is I have a Republican husband that is so upset at what Bush has done. Its funny because I was on one of my rants and he said "Don't yell at me I didn't know that they were going to be so corrupted." He is getting it I just keep chipping away at it but he's getting it.

Open the door to her becoming a Dem, if you can. There are a lot of people in this country who have reasonable ideas they consider "conservative" that really have nothing to do with Bush. Our party has a lot to gain from them, and they have a lot to gain from us! :)

Who ended up voting for Kerry or not voting for Shrub, with Kerry gaining votes from the 2000 election, how in the Hell did Shrub actually win?

Neat aunt and yay she voted for Kerry! My Mom used to be a republican (George turned her to an independent) and she voted Kerry and both my grandparents on my Mom's side. My grandmother on my Dad's side voted Bush but now no longer trust's him (:shrug: ).

Hell, we are just getting started! When you reach 63, you have pretty much obtained all the material goods you want. You used to be young and buffed and, as you aged, you realized that young and sexy didn't = a stable relationship. If you were lucky, you found someone with the same intellectual skills as you and you formed a relationship. If you were really lucky, and willing to work real hard, that relationship progressed. If you are really really lucky, you have found someone who will be there through the good times and the bad. There will be good times and bad times, that's just life. If you have made it to 63, you also have realized that, at this stage of life, you don't have to impress anybody! You can be who you are, be as weird as you want, and if other people find your behavior disturbing, that is their problem. Frankly, I am enjoying getting old. I can be as eccentric as I actually am without being bothered by other peoples opinions. Very liberating.
