so now you believe that Rove's lawyer is lying about the letter.

Well, it's good that you can slither from one allegation to another without leaving too much of a trail. Except for the sound of my laughter.

I'm sure you'd like to see all sorts of things, but what makes you so special? And how come you don't know how the system works? That's your responsibility as a citizen, I believe.

43. Ah, Rove's "hired gun" is Luskin?
That's not at all how I read it.

These metaphors so often lead to nothing but confusion.

And, as a practicing DC lawyer for more than 30 years, I'm not used to having defense counsel referred to as "hired guns." It's a hick sort of accusation made by people who know less than nothing.

No wonder you confused me.

Good luck.

I think PA is going to be a big (and good) surprise this time around. There was an article in today's WP about Curt Weldon that really surprised me.

I just voted for Jim Webb in VA's Democratic primary, and I cannot tell you how fucked up the voting machine was. Shameful. As primitive as a child's toy. What a mess - already.

Virginia primary -- I'm all set for 7:01 when the polls have closed.

I hope your vote went through. It makes me feel better if intelligent, informed people get their votes counted.

As for Santorum, I'm beginning to think that Charles Manson could whip him. There could be some resistance to a Manson candidacy in south-central PA, but I think he's beat Santorum like a rented mule in the Philly suburbs!

Hope you're doing well.

I think Webb will get the nod. And I am hoping like hell that he kicks Allen's ass so hard, that fucker ends up in Tennessee, wondering how he got there.

What a good scenario you paint -- Webb defeating Allen soundly (G version) in November. That would just about do it for Cement-Head's presidential aspirations, wouldn't it?

I'm for it, and may it please happen.

31. Yes -- a surprise on its merits and also that the POST took the space
to run it.

I used to consider the POST a left-of-middle paper, but of course that was a Watergate-era observation and Mary McGrory was alive and kickin'. Good lord I miss that woman's columns.

I used to look forward to her writing when I lived in Montgomery County, MD and took the POST, or picked it up at Dupont Circle -- or anywhere around town actually. She didn't mind taking Dick Nixon out to the woodshed and beating the holy crap out of him.

Anyway, I hope in the post-Abu Ghraib era, U.S. newspapers somehow begin again to rediscover their role as investigative analysts. Good for the POST for running this one on the PA race. Now if we can just put a pistol to the heads of the Cincinnati ENQUIRER and Indianapolis STAR.

---------that's a RHETORICAL PISTOL, in case you're listening in, Mike Hayden---------------

Weldon sounds like a Russian guy, yes -- on the KGB end of the spectrum. How sweet a thing it would be to clear Congress of people like that.

I'm excited about your prediction on Webb & will be tuned in to find out how it went.

It wasn't about the Leopold article - it was about a bunch of groupies who seemed (delusionally) to believe that questioning the credibility of that piece of bullshit was somehow impugning their imaginary loved one's character - the imaginary loved one being one of the people at truthout.

Ever see the old Dracula movies, when the young girls who have been turned into vampires come out of their crypts to do their Master Dracula's bidding?

Yeah, like that.

Takes all kinds, don't ya know, but we're still standing, we were proven right (big surprise), and - best of all - we can laugh about it.

25. They've now adopted a party line that they parrot like dittoheads!
"I want to see the letter." And next it will be a signed affidavit of authenticity personally presented to them by the Archbishop of Canterbury. Then they will want a forensic expert to swear it was typed on Fitzgerald's secretary's computer, then the secretary will have to swear that she did it because Fitzgerald told her to, and not because she was bribed by Luskin, then Fitszgerald himself will have to prove that he is not lying when he says he sent the letter, then he will have to prove that his perceptions are in fact reality and that he is not actually a mental patient in a coma dreaming this all up.

What imagery - groupies as Draculettes!

Until now I've thought of them as Jim Jones' Kool-Aide drinkers.

Your imagery is far more apt - they may behave like passive tools when left alone to wallow in their idol/cult worship, but when someone challenges a story written by a known liar endorsed by their idol, they morph into Draculettes, bare their fangs, and attack.

But truth is even more beautiful.

It's fine to have hope, and to want a positive outcome to a bad situation. What ISN'T okay is to believe in bullshit just because it confirms your political convictions. That's sad. ALWAYS demand truth and proof, even from politcal allies.

50. Truth In the Abstract is Beautiful, But The Truth of Our Situation is UGLY
The truth of our situation is that the fascists own the government, the news, the churches, and the voting machinez, so they can do whatever they want.
We have very little chance of taking over Congress or the Presidency, now, in 2008, or at any time in the future, no matter how low they go in the polls.
BushRove will rule us until the rest of the world nukes us into oblivion, which should only take a few more years at this rate.

Is that realistic enough for you?

Is it any wonder that we're a bit prone to grasping at straws?

51. No, you see Rove is an alien, and actually was indicted...
but because he is the mastermind of the alien cover-up, Fitz let the indictment go.

Notice how things changed from gray marriage to "gay marriage"?

What about immigration, why would the President want to be nice to aliens? He doesn't but Karl Rove is in control, he know the "amnesty" will be for all aliens, ALL ALIENS!

So you see Fitz really did indict Rove, but then he found out the awful truth.

The TRUTH is really OUT there.
