Webb: 67,909
Miller: 60,616

That seems awfully low for turnout yet on the site it says 86% of precients in.

4. Hmm
you mean a former republican who has criticized the Bush administration for the war and changed parties. I'm all for Republicans changing parties. He also is a former marine and yes, was Sec. of Navy during Reagan's time but he also will be the candidate who can probably win this seat.

7. And by that he sounds INFINITELY better than Bushbot Allen
Who's carried so much water for this administration you'd think he was a camel.

5. Assuming Webb wins, Dems across America
need to contribute to his campaign. Allen has over 7 million already in his warchest. He's an ass, but the repukes want to keep that seat and will do whatever it takes to win. Expect a very nasty campaign.

8. this could be one of the dark horse senate races which will give
democrats the majority. We need six seats to take back the Senate. I think we have a good shot in Pennsylvania, Ohio, Montana, Missouri, and Rhode Island. Finding that sixth seat is the thing--Virginia and Tennessee are possibilities and perhaps Arizona is a long shot.

9. Wi_Dem, I think that's a real good read of our chances and a solid
map reference, too.

Virginia could be it. Were Webb to upset George Allen, that would almost certainly be the end of Allen's presidential aspirations for 2008. And having Allen gone would be a real good thing.

Go, Webb.

11. Let's not count on Ohio being there for us
At this point, the Republican candidate for governor in the state of Ohio is going to certify his own race. I don't trust that any Democrat can win a statewide election under those circumstances.

I like our chances in the other four states you named, and Virginia looks real good too (the fact that Webb was secretary of the Navy under Reagan can only help us--lots of Virginians still admire Reagan, and the fact that Reagan thought highly enough of Webb to appoint him to the post of Secretary of the Navy will assure these folks that it's safe to vote Democratic this time). But I'm leaning more toward Arizona than Tennessee for the sixth seat. Tennessee is in the South, and they trend GOP.

10. Webb won. Only a few areas in two districts haven't reported.
AP called it for Webb.
