At The Helm The person who wrote about not expecting the government to take care of us during crisis needs a history lesson. It was FEMA that won the glowing praise of then-Governor George W. Bush for their response to a disaster in Texas. It was the Feds who tracked down, arrested and convicted the terrorists responsible for the first World Trade Center bombing. It is the US government under the CDC who leads worldwide response to any disease outbreak. It was the federal government who led the charge to put a man on the moon and win two World Wars. Let's also not forget leading us out of the Great Depression and winning the Cold War. While it is far from perfect, the government has proven it can lead our country to do great and wonderful things when it has a capable person at the helm. Unfortunately, George W. Bush now leads our government.
