Wisdom is a rare commodity in the world of politics
Al Gore seems to have found it.

Listening to him on Larry King, I was struck by how spoke about the issues as someone who was looking out for the good of the country--and the world--not just his own good or that of his party. He's a man comfortable in his skin--willing to argue his point without demeaning others, saddened by the foolishness and ugliness of other people but in the end optomistic. I was never a fan of his when he was a politician but as a recovering politician he's made a convert out of me.

This is the sort of leadership that America craves. I don't know that Al Gore will run for president. My guess is he will not--he seems pretty adament about not wanting to do it but I truly hope he changes his mind. If not I hope he continues to act as a voice of wisdom for a troubled world.

1. Well;
today Tipper was asked about that and she said something to the effect of;
"Well; you never know!"

There is a poll on ABC Politics asking if you would vote for Gore in '08.
Someone posted the link to it here today.
Last I checked he was at 56+ % Affirmative!
;)

3. I get the
feeling that he's already campaigning. Don't you?
And I think his movie was a reachout to the Greenies!
He's one of them! :)

4. I don't know. He sounds pretty sincere about not wanting to run.
Of course let's face it.

Everyone loves a reluctant warrior and then we look at the alternatives and you can see why people want him to throw his hat in the ring.

Hillary Clinton--I'll take a pass--she had the bad judgement to be for Bush's war and her naked ambition is terribly offputting.

John Kerry--A good man, I voted for him and worked for him but I can't get enthused about him this time.

John Edwards--A wonderful man (and easy on the eyes) but needs more experience. Run for Governor, serve a term or two and then come back and see me.

John Warner--He's Southern and an ex-governor. People say he's charming. Is that all there is?

Russ Feingold--I absolutely love the man. He's an uncompromising fighter for truth, justice and the American way. I get the feeling though that he does not play well with others. There is the finesse thing that and I don't know whether Feingold can to that--or wants to.

Joe Biden: Demonstrated terrible judgement by supporting Bush's war and to the best of my knowledge has still not admitted it was a mistake. And of course there was that plagerism thing a few years back.

Bill Richardson: Lots of experience but that baseball thing will sink him. Its stupid but that's the way these things are.

Looking at this lot Gore looks very good indeed.

5. Good run down of candidates.
I agree with you on most. I would absolutely love it if Hillary didn't even run...if, for no other reason than to drive Chris Matthews crazy! He's got a major case of OCD about her. My hubby and I laugh because no matter who he talks to, he brings up Hillary!
"Do you think Hillary will win?"
"What do you think of Hillary's chances?"
"Is Hillary just too way too left of center for the American people?"

HAH!!!

7. They just love Hillary, don't they
It's a great story--wife of philandering (but beloved) ex-president runs for officer herself and avenges his memory.

It would be great except for the fact that so many people frankly seem to dislike her intensely.

Personally I think she's a good Senator--though one who's judgement is sometimes subordinated to her ambition but like alot of people--I don't trust her.

8. Matthews is an idiot!
I think his 'fasination' *wink* with HRC is the exact opposite.
I think he does it to have a chance to make fun of her and put down the Dems.
He looks for opportunities to rag on her, disguised as 'genuiness' and
if he doesn't have one; he creates one.

6. I disagree with you on
John Edwards though. I think he has plenty of experience
and he's VERY smart and liberal!

Forget HRC (DLC), Biden (Traitor), Kerry (for the same reasons as you).

I like Richardson's personality from what I've seen so far
but I really don't know that much about him.
I get the impression that he's a fighter.

I'm damn PROUD of Fiengold though! He's a one man army!
And I think he's smart as a fox! Crafty!

I don't know anything about Warner.
I just am not that interested and I'm not sure why.
I suppose I should make an effort to find out more.

9. I like Edwards too. I'd just like to see how he does as an administrator
The ancient Romans had a system called the Cursus Honorum. Essentially it was a series of offices. You had to be elected to and serve in offices at one level before you could run for the next. At the apex of your career you had a shot at Consul--equivalent to our president.

This was pretty much corrupted during the Empire when Emperors just appointed themselves and their favorites to the Consulship. Caligula appointed Incitatus--a champion race horse to show his contempt for the Roman Senate--but the system had merit.

Maybe I'm just old fashioned--very old fashioned.

11. I'm well aware of that--a one term Senator
I'm not saying I don't like the guy. I like his theme about the two Americas very much, his emphasis on the working class appeals to me and there's no doubt he's a good speaker.

If he gets the nomination I'll support him.

I just feel that whoever becomes President is going to have a hell of a job cleaning up the elephant shit. I prefer someone with more experience.

If Gore doesn't run Edwards is in the first tier of candidates that I'm considering.

12. Mr Gore knows what is good for the country and he is going to do something
about it. He puts his pants on one leg at a time like the rest of us. There's no doubt in my mind if there is a 44 he will be it.
