Lieberman Under 50%
June 14, 2006
In Connecticut, Lamont Closes the Gap

Want to know why supporters of Sen. Joe Lieberman are planning an independent bid? A new Rasmussen Reports poll shows Lieberman leading primary challenger Ned Lamont (D) by just six percentage points, 46% to 40%.

There are some issues with the poll, such as a small sample size (218) and large margin of error (7%), but the results are a clear sign that Lamont is gaining traction.

3. Lamont is really advancing quickly
Edited on Wed Jun-14-06 12:24 PM by Pithy Cherub
and August 8th is just less than two months out. Joementum's internal polling must show a horror story of epic proportions. This will make Holy Joe declare soon his intentions. Joementum's campaign manager is quoted as saying he won't endorse Lamont, the Dem, if Ned wins. :eyes:

Go Ned, Go! The Liberal Blogosphere is making an impact! :woohoo:

26. From Joe's own site...
here

He actually brags about his "big" 2 to 1 endorsement by the state's Democratic party in May. The problems are 1.) the vote was open, not secret (no doubt some state's Democrat's felt the possibility of political repercussions if they didn't vote for Joementum) and 2.) he's an incumbent who has been in office 18 years without a strong base of local support. Having one third of local party members NOT openly support you is most certainly a good sign is it, Joe? Some of us aren't that stupid. :eyes:

4. 218 is too small even for a well done poll.
But I have no doubt that Lieberman is in trouble.

6. Can democratic leaders put pressure on Joe to support the primary
winner? because if he runs as an indy he (Joe) will either win (and then as an Indy can vote for a Repubican as Majority Leader) or he will cause the Republican to win.

in a 3-way race if Holy Joe opts for the indy route.

I'm thinking this new poll suggests that Nedrenalin is overtaking Joementum. Lamont's star is on the ascent.

11. true, if faced with Lamont as the democratic nominee chosen in
a free primary, it is hopeful that most Dems will support him and some indy's too and hopefully Joe and the GOP nominee will split the Republican vote.

14. Good point there on the indie vote. I'd forgotten to include them in
my take.

I just can't get over that poll. Is that a rapid rise by Ned Lamont, or what?

7. good. Ya hear that HRC!!!
Dear Mr. Solmonese,

Your hearing will improve dramatically if you remove your head from your rectum, by the way.

-sui

I have a couple of extraneous criteria for liking a candidate.

1. When someone asks you a question, answer the question, THEN explain. Do not explain your answer until you run out the clock.

2. When you are answering a question, be honest and direct. We are all descended from predators. Most of us can sense when prey is being evasive, or when prey is a fair weather republican butt-kissing social conservative wearing democrat-skin.

3. Lose the dromedary mush mouth affectations.

is that mean? He didn't support the FMA!!!! Oh, that's because he co-authored DOMA and stated that DOMA "was sufficient".

With democrats like that, who needs republicans?

9. A bid as an Independent might just suck up some of the R swing
vote who would rather live in misery than vote for a D. An I is more palatable to them.

10. It would be an excellent "shot across the bow" of DINOs,
... appeasers, corporatists, and other (so-called) 'centrists' that The People don't tolerate Quislings and Vichy collaboration. As an independent (liberal democrat), I insist on some decent degree of ideological integrity. The "demo" part of the word "democrat" means 'People' - not corporations and not foreign states and not money. When The People are not placed (figuratively) in front of all other allegiances, the very term 'democrat' is a lie.

The fact that this isn't assiduously required of those who proclaim themselves members of (and receive funding from) a 'Democratic' Party is at the heart of why I remain an independent.

20. Sounds like Lamont is now a shoe-in, especially because...
Lieberman and his team sounding as if they are abandoning the Democratic Party. People can't help but notice that, and I would guess they would *not* reward that either in the primary or on Election Day.

Lieberman is not a team player. Kick him out!

21. Unfortunately, Lieberman shot himself in the foot with all the talk....
about becoming an Independent. Whether or not he is serious about such a conversion, he led people to believe he was by his very silence. A lot of Democrats turned him off when he failed to respond like a "true" Democrat. He has been damaged greatly by the "independent" talk, especially amongst Democrats that may have supported him in the past. They now have their doubts whether or not Joe is a true Democrat?
