Pathetic effort, Ann. Another rambling, poorly written and horribly illogical effort demonstrating that, given your busy schedule, you need a break. At Betty Ford? Maybe that line, "Hello! Anyone there?" is a tipoff. And for DUers, check out the intellectual FReeper post following this column. It's a bonus.
Party of Rapist Proud to Be Godless

by Ann Coulter
Posted Jun 14, 2006

I thought I'd put off that column on ethanol subsidies I'd been planning to write this week and instead address the topic that has so riveted the nation -- the hot new book Godless: The Church of Liberalism.

Get Yours FREE!
First of all, I'm getting a little fed up with people trying to make money off my book. Worthless little cable TV shows with teeny-tiny audiences, ridiculous legislators and tabloid newspapers are all trying to make a name for themselves off the profundity of Godless.

Second, let's pause for a moment to observe that two facts are now universally accepted: Liberals are godless and Hillary's husband is a rapist.

My book makes a stark assertion: Liberalism is a godless religion. Hello! Anyone there? I've leapt beyond calling you traitors and am now calling you GODLESS. Apparently, everybody's cool with that. The fact that liberals are godless is not even a controversial point anymore.

In addition to the consensus position that liberals are godless, no one has made a peep about that swipe I took at Hillary, proposing that she have a chat with her husband before accusing others of being "mean" to women in light of Juanita Broaddrick's charge that Bill Clinton raped her. Hillary beat a hasty retreat on her chubby little legs and is now hiding behind Rahm "Don't Touch My Tutu" Emanuel.

Yes, the Democrats' pit bull, Rahm Emanuel, is a former ballerina. And they wonder why the concerted effort of the MSM (as we call the mainstream media) and the Democratic Party can't lay a finger on me. A ballerina. Hey, if the padded, silky shoe fits ...

4. If I used Coulter logic,
I would be 10 years younger than her and would be able to easily fit into one of her "dresses".

Hmmm... she reminds me of a girl I knew in junior high. I was new and friendless, and she "filled me in" on stuff. Of course I believed her, but the truth sooned dawned. And she laughed with glee that she had humiliated me, and then went on to her next victim. What Coulter is doing smacks of the same sort of thing....so junior high school.

7. You have to admit, though, her logic is flawless.
Coulter's worst terms of abuse are always couched in feminine terms. Hillary Clinton has 'chubby' legs and is therefore, first and foremost an unattractive woman; Rahm Emanuel was a 'ballerina' (an impossibility, but never mind that for now); the attack on the 9/11 widows attacked their gender far more than their politics; women shouldn't be allowed to vote.

Coulter obviously deeply believes that the most damning criticizm that can be levelled at anyone is to compare them to a woman. Actually, that's not quite true; the worst thing is to actually BE a woman. Why? Because, according to Ann's logic, women are not to be taken seriously. Only men matter.

Fine. I'll go along with her on this. Therefore, being a putative woman, Coulter doesn't matter.

I can't find a flaw in that logic.

There is something strange about her being a misogynist, don't you think?

12. Just part of her pathology.
She is powered by self-loathing. Her entire schtick is a manifestation of self-directed rage turned outward. Ann hates everything she is, so much so that she even negates her physical self by being as thin (and therefor nonexistent) as she can.

That's why I think she must have been a victim of childhood abuse. Her hatred of feminine 'weakness' must stem from some trauma from which she (or some female figure in her life) wasn't strong enough to save her. I'm also willing to guess that her abuser was a man, someone in authority, and that she never received therapy to deal with the trauma.

So her mind developed in a predictable way: she grew to adore the exercise of unfettered power by 'strong' men. She hated 'weakness,' typified by 'feminine' or 'liberal' views. If she even remembers her abuse now, she probably thinks her abuser was right to act as he did, because his power made him right.

The sane part of Coulter never wants to be a victim again, but the only way she can be sure of that is to become like her abuser. Trustees in concentration camps probably went through a similar 'conversion.'

17. Can't argue with that logic. You give her too much credit, though.
She is falling apart. I am not sure it will be either entertaining or satisfying. The FReepers think that way, but rereading this column shows serious problems. The paragraph challenging us about being called "godless" sounds like it was written by someone who should not have been writing at the time.

11. I wonder if
she even knows what a liberal is? Doesn't seem to. It's a catch all word for her that includes anyone that is smarter than her. I really have no interest in her opinion and I doubt her high book sales will translate into converting people to her side. I seems amazing she can still cry about some type of media bias given the number of media outlets she has been on in the past 2 weeks. Yet with all this air time she has said nothing of any real interest. She's insulted people and that's great TV, but it's not great political discourse. And thus her ( or the team of ghost writers that no doubt filled in the pages) book will be as well remembered as most political RW hacks books. She has no real point because most liberals believe in god. Which in a country that overwhelmingly believe in god isn't very surprising.

18. Coulter's gods are celebrity and money
period. She's simply exploiting (very profitably) the fact that right-wingers love to have someone to rationalize and "validate" their hatred of anyone not like them.

21. What she really means is...
... all the various "conservative" political philosophies (which are often contradictory) have one thing in common: authoritarianism, which "conservatives" believe is the only thing that can keep society from self-destructing. "God" is usually the imaginary source of this authority (and the imaginary ultimate punisher of those who scoff at authority), so "he" is a useful tool, whether or not you "really" believe in him. What Coulter and "conservatives" like her really hate about liberals is they way they overthrew the concept of the Devine Right of Kings in favor of the idea of governments "deriving their just Powers from the Consent of the Governed." It's ironic these days that "conservatives" claim to be such super-patriots, when in fact they abhor the entire theory of government on which the U.S. was built. (Perhaps not quite as ironic as their claim to be super-Christians...)

"I was going to write about ethanol subsidies, but look what I've been forced to do instead."

BULLSHIT, Ann. BULLSHIT.

This weeks column was going to be a hate pieces and a hit piece, and was never going to be anything more.

That's all she ever writes.
