You want to know how I feel right now?
Like I've been sucker punched. Like we've been Roved.

It feels like the day after the 2004 election, after Kerry conceded. I was a basket case for 3 days after that one. This time is not nearly as bad, maybe I'm getting use to this shit? But it's definitely the same sort of thing. The same empty feeling, that no matter how much we do, say, write, yell, scream, collect evidence, march, protest, it is not enough. It is never enough.

I'm sorry, I was raised that there was a difference between right and wrong. Good and evil. I can not sit by and watch people commit crimes against humanity and just ignore it just because I've got mine. And I believed that in the end the good guys are supposed to win. What's wrong with that?

2. Things are Good for Us
Many things positive are going on behind the scenes. Although we find news here and elsewhere, we only hear of a very small fraction and it ussually isn't good anyways. The effort to take our country back is happening everyday. I remind myself of this everyday, no matter what happens. Besides, Rove is destined for punishment.

3. We accept: "They have seized power." & "They are above the law."...
and yet we believe that a Federal prosecutor will simply put them behind bars. I don't know whether to laugh or cry at that level of naivete.

Why do a lot of people feel the need for entitlement?

13. Do you mean "entitlement" to justice, the "rule of law" or what?
I'm not sure what you mean by: "Why do a lot of people feel the need for entitlement"?

Please, clarify your assertion.

17. No need to apologize. I guess I wasn't clear.
It just seems a lot of people in this coutry feel they are entitled to a lot of material things and others need to stand in the back of the line.

6. I hear you DYEW
It so happens today I have been reading an illustrated history of Native Americans. I have been crying most of the day reliving their pain. Or maybe a tenth of it!

Given the horrible beginning, called GENOCIDE, I realize just how much AmeriKa is like Rome. It is beyond repair as far as I am concerned. They have the voting machines, media, congress, wh, SC, the whole fucking deal. They won. I share your pain.

7. A silver lining for you in the middle of the cloud:
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=132&topic_id=2679265&mesg_id=2679265

Bush is getting cocky and arrogant since Fitz let Rove walk.

That's actually GOOD. It requires the Democrats to BUST THEIR ASSES and become RELENTLESS between now and November, but it's classic "tortoise & the hare" psychology.

Zarqawi may be dead, but ask me if I care. Ask me if it changes the way I feel about Bush. Zarqawi was a murderer, and an egomaniac, and a psychopath...sort of like our beloved president.

Devote whatever time you need to the sucker punch feeling you have...I certainly understand it...but then take a step back and look at who we're dealing with. Look at the middle class. Look at the rising death toll in Iraq. realize that Bush probably won;t be taking too many victory laps over dead Zarqawis between now and November, and the "baby bounce" he's getting in the polls WILL...NOT...LAST.

Rove plans to campaign on victory in Iraq and the great economy. Who, outside of the base, is gonna buy THAT?

9. Answering your question: absolutely nothing.
I think that our liberal/progressive tendencies to seek understanding get INAPPROPRIATELY blended with justice and human dignity. The right-winging bullies have mastered blending our intentions to understand and gain knowledge with mismanagement of limits on human behavior. They are full of shit, of course, being prepared to overstep the bounds of human dignity and justice.

We just have to focus on their abuses, over and over and over and over again.

We haven't been "sucker-punched" or "roved". We are IN BATTLE.

AND WE ARE STILL AT BATTLE!!!!! Discouragement is temporary, like life. I'm in it, discouragement. But, it's temporary and I feel strength with my compatriots! Live free or die? Einstein said, "we're just here to fill time", however we please, always with consequences.

I believe, we must find joy in living as true to ourselves as possible,....and my life is a freakin' MESS, right now! *LOL*

But, I hold onto something beyond, above and greater than the sonsabitches screwing this nation and this world,....my son, the birds I feed each day and flowers I tend to, my two loving dogs and cats, the river a hundred feet away, the voice of friends I talk to,....my neighbors, local "mom-n-pop" shoppes,...the stars.

THEY are my power, my joy, my strength,....while IN BATTLE.

:pals:

Walk outside (or inside) for awhile. I just requested strength in the lounge. I got enough to get me back to me.

11. Hey, I feel your pain. I too believed in the "good vs evil" thing
I refuse to give up, though. I plan on staying in their faces just to make them uncomfortable. And people who belive and support the likes of the Swiftboaters and Ann Coulter do not make me want to give up. Instead they make me want to fight even harder. They are evil, cruel, and the lowest of the low so it means that they can't stand the likes of us. We keep them on edge and we keep them from freely enjoying their savaging of our country.

15. I guess I'm weird 'cause I NEVER believed in the "good vs evil" thing.
Edited on Wed Jun-14-06 08:27 PM by Just Me
I believe in free will to choose. I believe there are people with SICK minds leaving no possibility of normal human empathy, precluding the possibility of civil choices (and they should be either treated or imprisoned). However, I do believe there are people (narcissistic) who have the power to impose oppression and destruction,...and they do precisely that. These people certainly deserve to be punished (incarceration is meaningless,....take away ALL THEIR MONEY) and should be publicly admonished for their behavior.

Good vs Evil,...is a choice held by humanity or mere myths/imaginations we dance with.

On Edit: I've never met "God" and if I met the "devil", I'd prolly say "GODDAMN!!!"

18. I certainly am a firm believer in free will
but I also believe in karma. That when you put out negative energy that eventually it comes back and kicks you in the ass. And that when you put out good energy, good things happen. But then there is the world outside of our personal sphere, where everyones else's karma effects our own and with BushCo well on the way to establishing a military dictatorship, it's hard to feel good about the world at the moment.

And I'll repeat - it's okay if they occasionally get you down, but just don't ever ever ever let the bastards KEEP you down. That's the diff between the right and left. The left always recovers and comes back swinging!
