The Revolution Will Not be Televised
Edited on Wed Jun-14-06 09:13 PM by driver8
I have been thinking about Gil Scott Heron's song, "The Revolution Will Not be Televised" for the past couple of weeks and it seemed appropriate to me for these times we are living in. I changed a few words but all credit must go to Gil Scott Heron for his amazing words.

The revolution will not be televised

You will not be able to stay home, freeper
You will not be able to plug into your iPod
You will not be able to lose yourself in ESPN
Skip out for beer during commercials,
Because the revolution will not be televised.
The revolution will not be televised.

The revolution will not be brought to you by Diebold
In 4 parts without commercial interruptions.
The revolution will not show you pictures of Chimpy McFlightsuit
Landing a plane on an aircraft carrier
Or pictures of Condi enjoying a night at the Theatre,
The revolution will not be televised.

The revolution will not be brought to you by the
PNAC or Halliburton, The RNC, or the Carlyle Group
The revolution will not give you all the news that's fit to print
The revolution will not get rid of wrinkles around the eyes
The revolution will not make you look five pounds
thinner, because the revolution will not be televised, freepers

There will be no pictures of survivors in New Orleans
pushing that shopping cart down the block on the dead run,
Trying to survive until help arrives, but help will never arrive
CNN will not be able to change it's exit polls or predict a winner
The revolution will not be televised.

There will be no pictures of cops shooting down
liberals in the instant replay.
There will be no pictures of cops shooting down
liberals in the instant replay.
There will be no pictures of American Idol, Survivor, or The Apprentice.
There will be no slow motion or still life of Junior strolling through the 9th ward
In a sweat stained shirt that he has saved for just an occasion

Fox News, Bill O'Reilly, and Ann Coulter will no longer be relevant, and
people will not care about Who Wants to Marry a Millionaire
Or if Friends is a repeat because people
will be in the street looking for a brighter day.
The revolution will not be televised.

There will be no highlights on the eleven o'clock
news and no pictures of the brown people in Iraq.
The theme song will not be written by Jim Webb,
Francis Scott Key, nor sung by Toby Keith or Hillary Duff
The revolution will not be televised.

The revolution will not be right back
after a message about a whiter teeth, whiter whites or white people.
You will not have to worry about your GMC Hummer,
Your low carb diet, or your Prada bag.
The revolution will not go better with Coke.
The revolution will not fight the germs that may cause bad breath.
The revolution will put us in the driver's seat.

The revolution will not be televised, will not be televised,
will not be televised, will not be televised.
The revolution will be no re-run, freepers;
The revolution will be live.

4. You are absolutely right. I remember hearing this song for the
first time when I was in college. I could not believe that someone could write words as powerful as that. Then he came out with "B-Movie" about Reagan and that kicks ass, too.

What a tragic guy.

Died in the streets.
