Would you patronize the bar of a true bigot, if you agreed with some of
their points very strongly?

This is in regards to a link to a restaurant where the owner puts out signs that are very opinionated. This guy is a bigot. No doubt about it. Here are some examples of his wisdom.

"Arabs guarding our ports, are you f**king crazy? What's next, child molesters permitted to open day car centers?"
http://casadice.com/signs/pages/outside_sign30.htm

"Don't disrespect this country, spanish national anthems and wetbacks belong south of the rio grande. Press 1 for english. Press 2 for deportation"
http://casadice.com/signs/pages/outside_sign33.htm

"one nation under god, thats the way it should be, you don't like it tough shit"
http://casadice.com/signs/pages/outside_sign7.htm

"at the current rate of legals and illegals entering the country, august 2013 will be white history month"
http://casadice.com/signs/pages/outside_sign22.htm

"its a great day for the justice system. RIP Johnny Cochran."
http://casadice.com/signs/pages/outside_sign21.htm

"baseball americas pass time (sic),10 players interviewed, all spoke spanish. More of Americana gone!"
http://casadice.com/signs/pages/outside_sign15.htm

"dear mr. president, piss on all the camel jockeys bring home all the troops and leave plenty of bombs. They will kill themselves it is their way of life."

However in some of his signs, he is clearly anti-bush, and I'm sure some DUers agree with him elsewheres too. So would you patronize such a place?

2. I don't agree with anything I posted,
But on his site he says Bush has to go. I agree with him there (for different reasons though). However I have seen some of his viewpoints (specifically one) addressed on DU.

5. I support his right to express himself.
I find some of the opinions offensive and bigoted....but I might stop for a drink and talk with the owner anyway. I'd want to know what his attitude is toward my opinions? Debate is what makes America...well America.

However, if I was Latino...I might want to throw paint on his signs. ;)

6. Hell, I'll patronize just about any bar..
As long as the music is good and the drinks are honest.

But I did leave Emmett's Steak House at Eighth and 43rd (Manhatten) because I was sitting under a pic of Poppy.

Business dinner, cost me about a thousand dollars.

I crossed the street and got shitfaced at Smith's.

9. Are you serious?
Not only do I have no appetite for his ugly, ignorant sentiments, but the history of human nature tells me it would only be a matter of time before vehement remarks would occur between either myself and him, or myself and those who sympathize with his positions.

NO. WAY. WOULD. I. GIVE. THIS. GUY. MY. MONEY.

10. Honestly? Yes I would.
One reason being: That would be the best place to try and get people to change their minds on things - ala Jesus.

The healthy don't need the dr, the sick do. What better place to leave info in bathrooms (ala tracts), talk to people and try to get them to vote differently, etc?

Buy some people some drinks, get em all happy, and open their minds :)

...who are just disappointed because the DictatorTot
isn't EXTREME ENOUGH for their foaming hate-fantasy-based worldview.

I would never patronize such a place, but I'd be
pretty goddamn tempted to VISIT it once.

Once.

I wouldn't waste my time or money on going somewhere for food that is more concerned about making political statements than advertising their specials.

Edited on Thu Jun-15-06 12:47 AM by RandomKoolzip
Shit, I wouldn't work for anyone who uses the word "wetback," especially in the food service industry.

And anyone that unhinged probably wouldn't spend too much time putting together a good menu, so eating there would be unlikely too.

19. He's not anti-Bush, he's a classic Dobbs lover
Now listen up, this is THE kind of Republican Lou Dobbs is appealing to. Sure they may spout something that you think sounds like what you believe, bring the troops home or foreigners guarding our ports or labor exploitation. But when you listen for 5 more seconds, you realize the only thing they truly support is the white American male and fuck everybody else. These are the Democrats we lost in the 70's, I'm not sure we want them back.

21. Remember the "church sign generator"?
I believe this "restaurant" sign is of the same ilk.
Signs made for internet pleasure.

If I'm wrong on that point, then i would have to say I would not eat in his/her bigoted establishment.
too many blacks were beaten for simply sitting down in restaurants that did not want "niggers" in their place of business to allow bigotry to raise it's ugly head again.

24. I drive past this place occasionally.
The signs are real, although I seem to have missed some of the most hateful ones.

The guy sounds like a racist nut case. He stopped supporting the Iraq War when he realized it wasn't going to lower gas prices, and he realized that our tax dollars were being spent to supposedly "help" the Iraqi people. He's for a war to save him $$'s at the pump, but against Bush's latest "benevolent" reasons for the ongoing slaughter.

I saw the owner's name, and I have a suspicion that I know who this idiot is.

25. I have a local deli close to work where I use to eat lunch ...
all the time. The owner was a real hard nosed right winger and would have FOX on the TV every day during lunch. He was always cursing liberals and bitching about Democrats. Finally one day he was bitching as I'm sitting there eating lunch and it got to me. I finished my lunch and paid on my way out and I haven't been back since. Screw his right wing ass. He's not getting any more of my money. That's how you should deal with a business that insults you. Don't deal with them at all and don't give them a second chance.

26. Casa D'Racist is more like it. Article in local paper about the place:
Anti-Immigration Signs Walk Borderline

Driving past the Casa D’Ice restaurant, on Route 30 in North Versailles, can seem a bit like tuning in to Rush Limbaugh — except without the option to turn the dial. The restaurant’s marquee out front, updated every few weeks, serves as a soapbox for the political observations (and, occasionally, the pasta and drink specials) of owner Bill Balsamico.

The most recent political musing, for example, read:
Don’t disrespect this country. Spanish national anthems and wetbacks belong south of the Rio Grande. Push 1 to proceed in English. Push 2 for deportation.

Past messages lighting up the night have included:
Dear Mr. President, Piss on the camel jockeys. Bring home all the troops. Leave behind plenty of bombs. They will kill themselves. That’s their way of life

And this one, celebrating the capture of Saddam Hussein and the hunt for Osama Bin Laden:
Spaghetti and salad, $3.99. God bless America. One piece of shit down, one more asshole to go.

He has twin daughters who used to teach aerobics at my health club. The article mentions grandchildren. WOW. I can't imagine allowing my kids to be exposed to such a hateful racist.
