I want to say that Leno used Carlin to drive up viewership for Coulter.
The Coulter Carlin show was anticipated as a showdown. It was the hook to force people to watch the show. For Carlin to not be able to respond was hideous and we were duped! I think this was disgusting and I feel manipulated. I will not watch Leno again!

2. Oh come on.
DUers just have ungodly expectations of people, and when those expectations don't come to fruition, the person who was supposed to fulfill whatever expectation DUers had is suddenly villianized.

I can think of many, the most recent "villain" being Fitz.

3. What Was Carlin Supposed To Do?
This isn't his show...he probably was all but forced to go on as part of his promotional deal for the Cars movie. He sure didn't look happy to be there and just sat back and let Coultergeist make a total ass out of herself. There's nothing he could have said or done that would have phase that gutless whore and why bother. Anyone who believed the shit spewing from Coultergeist's piehold wouldn't be Carlin's audience...why waste the energy.

I couldn't help but think how Carlin was thinking how the doors he opened in the world of satire and political humor had been so perverted and ruined. He looked very sad.

4. Take the high road. ;)
Which he did. He managed to sneak in some body language that said "damn, it's cold in here" immediately after coulter's segment before the commercial break though.

16. I thought the same - and couldn't help but think how disgusted he must
have felt to hear her blamethe media as if it is set against her. When I lived in LA, Carlin was a hero to the mediawatchers - he donated office space to FAIR - and we sure as hell know the media is not liberal.

6. I dunno . . . seems to me there must have been a reason . . .
that Carlin didn't stick a rhetorical broomstick up her ass . . .

I doubt that he'd go along with orders from the producers to keep his mouth shut, so . . .

???? . . .

7. He Was A Guest
What was he supposed to do? He was there on a promotional gig, just like Coultergeist was. Leno could have asked Carlin his opinion, but didn't.

As posted above, Carlin took the high road. His body language said to many of us all that needed to be said. I'll wait for him to speak his peace on his next HBO special.

15. He is political - an early HBO special he talked about
Reagan and his corrupt administration, theocrats and the environment. Excellent stuff with many parallels to today's ranglings.

here's a classic http://youtube.com/watch?v=jv2yXh6pTDY&search=george%20carlin

17. When I was in LA, FAIR's officespace was donated by Carlin. He knows media
control by the corporate machine aligned with the GOP is one of this nation's biggest problems.

10. I never watch Leno
When my dad died, Leno posted his obit on the air. He made a joke out of my dad's last name.
He said"Now Disco is finally dead." I wrote a scathing letter and demanded an apology, but never got one.

fool of herself. Any argument he would have put up would have legitimized her.

13. It was a stunt; probably rehearsed beforehand.
I've never liked Carlin much, he's an opportunist just like Ann. Collusion between the two isn't too far-fetched.

(Which was so-so.)

Coulter's image is not allowed in my house. For me, s/he doesn't exist.

19. Ann who? Yeah, I watched and felt duped
I skipped KO last night to see it, too. :grr: From what I gathered from Coultergeist's remarks is that she feels the biggest insult when she is ignored.

As far as Carlin, I expected him to be, well, ...entertainining during Coultergeist's time. Bah! But, it also sounded like she paid people off the street $50 a head to come in and cheer (loudly) and support her. LOL! Still, if that's the case, maybe Carlin correctly read the audience and concluded that saying something would gratuitously give her more publicity. His 'it's cold as Hell in here' gesture said it all without saying a single word!
