PNAC was launched by Kristol and Kagan in 1997, shortly after their publication of an article in Foreign Affairs magazine entitled "Toward a Neo-Reaganite Foreign Policy", in which they called for Washington to exercise "benevolent global hegemony" to be sustained "as far into the future as possible".

It was in this spirit that the two co-founded PNAC, whose charter was signed by leading neo-conservatives, including Cheney's future chief of staff, I. Lewis Libby; Rumsfeld's future deputy, Paul Wolfowitz; Bush's future top Middle East aide, Elliott Abrams; his future ambassador to Afghanistan and Iraq, Zalmay Khalilzad; Rumsfeld's future top international security official, Peter Rodman; American Enterprise Institute (AEI) fellow and neo-cons impresario Richard Perle, and Florida Gov. Jeb Bush; as well as Cheney and Rumsfeld themselves.

That paper, which was developed by then-Undersecretary of Defence Wolfowitz, Libby, Khalilzad, and the current deputy national security adviser, J.D. Crouch, with assistance from Perle and other like-minded defence specialists, called for the "benevolent domination by one power" (the U.S.) to replace "collective internationalism" and for Washington to ensure that domination, particularly in Eurasia, in order to prevent the emergence, by confrontation if necessary, of any possible regional or global rival.

It was PNAC's role to sustain and propagate these ideas through its reports, its periodic letters and statements signed by right-wing notables, and a steady flow of opinion-pieces and essays, that acted as part of a larger neo-conservative "echo chamber" that included Kristol's Weekly Standard, Fox News, the Washington Times, and the editorial pages of the Wall Street Journal, to frame debates in official Washington and the mainstream media.

or why and by whom they were founded, get to read articles like this so as to become more aware. That is my reason for posting things like this because I still never fail to be surprised when people that I consider to be intelligent and knowlegeable have never heard of some of the things that we discuss every day and often assume that "everyone knows about." Many folks don't indulge in message board or chat room involvement, esp. that of a political nature, so they are basically ignorant of what is actually taking place.

I think that is why we should share these articles with people who need a synopsis of current affairs.

This Neo-Nazi cabal must be dealt with.

They have become more powerful, not less. It is silly to believe that they are finished. Not even close. "PNAC" was one outfit that they wore; just as they wore a different outfit before PNAC, they are putting on another one now. Anyone who says they are willingly disbanding should not be trusted: either they lack the insight needed to evaluate the threat that PNAC poses, or they are trying to pull the wool over people's eyes. Next they'll say AIPAC is being disbanded.

Word tricks again, they are firmly entrenched.

Like the so-called Christian Coalition, it has a bad name with bad associations. And like the Christian Coalition morphing into the Moral Majority (which sounds like Jews would be welcome), the PNAC will be resurrected and reincarnated as another entity with another name, perhaps better funded and streamlined. And unrecognizable -- for a while. The King is dead, long live the King, that sort of thing.

It'll probably be framed in gold and hung in the rotunda.

I'd start looking on the rosters of things like the CFR and the Trilateral Commission, World Bank, Stink Tanks, Secret Pentagon Offices Of Special Plans and the death squad planning committees around Washington DC. If you don't find them there look at the Federal Reserve Bank directors meetings...

The American Enterprise Institute, which was created as a forum for PNAC's agenda, will still exist and push policy. PNAC will resurface as another entity. If anyone thinks these guys are going away, they're delusional.
