U.S. death toll in Iraq reaches 2,500
18,490 U.S. troops have been wounded since 2003 invasion, Pentagon says

WASHINGTON - The number of U.S. military deaths in the Iraq war has reached 2,500, the Pentagon said Thursday, more than three years into a conflict that finds U.S. and allied foreign forces locked in a struggle with a resilient insurgency.

In addition, the Pentagon said 18,490 U.S. troops have been wounded in the war, which began in March 2003 with a U.S.-led invasion to topple President Saddam Hussein.

Tens of thousands of Iraqis have been killed.

3. How many Iraqis have died now? Civilians?
We should count all human beings together and compare it to the number of people Saddam killed.

7. I didn't vote for Bush... and I've never supported him...
Why do I feel like there is blood on my hands for allowing this to continue?

10. Because it's being done in your name
and mine, even though I never voted for or supported Bush either.

We are America. What is done in the name of America is done in *our* name.

Oh, and our money is part of it too - your tax dollars at work! Even if you, yourself don't support the war, your money does.

Everyone in America has this blood on their hands, and the ones who don't want it must speak out and say so, over and over and over. Except sometimes I feel like I'm just yelping "Out damned spot!" when all the Tide in Texas won't be enough to sweeten this nation's foreign policy.

8.  So whose son or daughter is next while we are waiting
for someone to do something. How many more have to die while Smirky wags the dog to save his own skin? Where have all the flowers gone?

13. It was stuck at 2497 for almost a week - why?
Yhis was posted yesterday, so it was stuck for six days at 2497.

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=132x2678735

2500 dead troop info... halted.

been five days we have been stuck at 2497 dead in Iraq. With the average of 2 dead a day, it would seem the pentagon is holding off the milestone numbers reporting.

maybe save it for a friday...?
