...Iraq? If they had focused on Afghanisatn and bin Laden, and had captured bin Laden, there would be no "war on terror" to speak of today. Of course, we will always have random acts of violence. But we would probably have 2500 young men and women still alive and thousands more living their lives with arms and limbs intact. Think of the damage done by George Dubya as he went out looking for a fight. He was ready to kick some ass. Then he got his nose busted and ran home to Momma crying that they hit him back. What did he expect?

1. the Democrats never should have let cheneyco get away with...
calling 9/11 an act of WAR.

it was a crime, not an act of war...it was carried out by individuals, not a state.

but then- they never should have stood still for the coup in florida in 2000, either.

6. Bushco called it an act of war
because it was set up for that purpose.

I think you know the reasons why they would never let it be investigated as a criminal act.

8. ...because B*shco were either negligent or complicit..
I refer you to David Ray Griffin's "New Pearl Harbor" for someone who's laid it all out pretty clearly.

2. anything that can be won militarily can be accomplished by diplomacy
it's probably too late now but if we would have tried to understand why the terrorist hated us so much in the first place and done something about that we wouldn't be where we are now, more people hating us each and every day. War is what this crew in the WH wants and they will do whatever it takes to continue it until we remove their sorry asses out of our government.

3. They hate us for two reasons
One we could change: policy issues in the middle east (i.e., Israel)

But also for something we can't really change: cultural expansionism (MTV; education). As long as western culture affects their youth and influences them away from crazy fundie islam, their will be terrorists willing to kill. Nothing proved that more to me than the recent terrorist plot against freakin Canada. Yeah, the war is making many hate us, but terror is inevitable desperation from a dying version of islam.

4. Yes, but diplomatically we wouldn't be making more at the rate we are now

5. It *was* a fringe version of Islam...
but "shock and awe", Guantanamo, Abu Ghraib etc etc has moved it more to the forefront.

Just the same as Latin America is veering to the left as a reaction against B*shco (and for good measure they're alienating Europeans too).
