Was Leno's audience freeped last night?
They seemed awfully receptive to Ann "Nazi" Coulter.

Hey, be sure to watch the live Dixie Chicks concert from London on MSN tonight! Here's the link:

1. This is merely an observation, but......
It would seem to me that anyone who would sit in the audience for the Tonight Show nowadays is either freepish, or leans toward being freepish.

I've only seen the show once or twice in the last 15 years but it's seems as though the audience is comprised mostly of dolts and halfwits.

3. I sat through a taping back in 1997. Ugh.
Some guy was giving away free tickets at Universal Studios, so what the heck... we went.

Big mistake. Special guests: Kathy Ireland and Michael Bolton. :scared:

My wife and I regret it to this day. Back then, I didn't know a damn thing about Red States vs. Blue States, but we knew almost instantly that we were not in our element.

I haven't watched an episode of Leno since. Letterman for me, thank you very much.

2. They had to have been. I only watched on snipped
during the commercial on Letterman. What a skank. "I'm Dorothy! I'm dropping a house on the main stream media!"

Why I even watched that much, I don't know.

4. It seemed that way to me.

They were much too rowdy at points in the conversation that made rowdiness seem out of place. I think Carlin sensed something wasn't right in the audience composition and so he modified his behavior accordingly.

18. Mostly they're tourists.
The locals are too busy working and living life to waste time at a live TV show taping.

Welcome to DU!

20. Actually, it makes sense that the audience would be overwhelmingly
freeped. The audience changes often because of the guests. When a particularly hot guest or in Ann's case a cult figure is scheduled, people line up from early in the morning to get into the show.

The Publisher must have brought busloads of RW nutjobs from the Claremont and Pepperdine Colleges to be there for Ann. That's how the Republicans operate. That's how Bush gets his selected audiences at town hall meetings and such.

16. More: "there are times when I wish you would go even further..."
"There might still be hope for the union.

Although, I confess, there are times when I wish you would go even further.

Example, after 9/11 you wrote that America should invade Muslim nations, take over their governments, and convert them to Christianity.

Brilliant! "

I figured as much because most decent Americans don't even know who Ann Coulter is let alone will cheer for her.

Something to the effect that "If you aren't a news junky then you probably don't know about the controversy of Ann Coulter and the 9-11 widows..." Leno himself is a fence sitter remarking, "fiscally I'm conservative, socially I'm liberal." He contributes to the right wing toilet paper, "Popular Mechanics". The audience was certainly freeped. Really wouldn't be that hard to do it either, some well placed phone calls and viola, 100 tickets. "Average Americans" have no idea who Ann Coulter is.
