Or a giant leap in giving more and more power to the police to do as they please? What's next, your door being kicked down for being a suspected democrat?

Fascist Bush will praised this Supreme Court decision.

Some people will ignore and say this still have to have a warrant and don't or won't acknowledge that its slowly happening...With the police facing Bush's appointed judges, the police know they can get away with more & more as time goes on.

High Court Backs Police No-Knock Searches

The Supreme Court ruled Thursday that police armed with a warrant can barge into homes and seize evidence even if they don't knock, a huge government victory that was decided by President Bush's new justices.

The 5-4 ruling signals the court's conservative shift following the departure of moderate Sandra Day O'Connor.

Dissenting justices predicted that police will now feel free to ignore previous court rulings that officers with search warrants must knock and announce themselves or run afoul of the Constitution's Fourth Amendment ban on unreasonable searches.

2. IIRC They tried this in the 70's and abandoned the practice
because police were shot by drug dealers that thought it was a burglary. Its just not a good idea to go busting into people's houses unannounced in a country where the populace is armed. In Florida and Colorado and other states if you think someone is trying to break into your house you can shoot them dead. Everybody loses on this one. It may be legal now but its still a bad idea.
