American deaths since the invasion of Iraq have reached 2,500, the Pentagon said today, marking a grim milestone in the wake of recent events that President Bush hopes will reverse the war’s unpopularity at home.

On a side note what was the offical death toll from 9/11?

that it will be interesting to watch the US when soldiers' deaths pass this threshold in Iraq and Afghanistan.

It will be "only" one more death, but it will be a psychic threshold for a lot of people. When the response costs more than the event, something is very wrong, although the people here at DU knew that a long time ago.
