We need a TRUE leader who walks the walk and talks the talk.

WE ARE SICK OF POLITICIANS.

How about a LEADER who is both brilliant and STANDS UP for what they
believe in... even if they get criticized for it.

SOMEONE WHO CAN BACK UP THEIR BELIEFS WITH LOGIC AND GOOD SENSE

2. I think this is why we criticize Dems and Republicans alike
Edited on Thu Jun-15-06 08:22 PM by Mr_Spock
There are NO leaders in this country - except maybe Feingold & a few others who are OK but I can't think of their names right now. Even leaders need followers - Congress is a cowardly place with the Repukes grasping onto power with whatever idiotic high-school peer pressure stunt they can get away with :eyes:

3. What have they got to lose?
I know we NEED to get as many Dems into office as possible, but it turns my stomach to think of working for some of these DINOs. There will never be a better time than now to stand up. Who will be our leader?

5. I'd prefer a representative to a "leader".
The various "leaders" usually have a grand time leading us into wars and other entertainments detrimental to health and well-being of the non-leaders.

6. Calling General Wesley Clark
A true leader who walks the walk and talks the talk.

Not a politician.

Brilliant in war and peace.

Stood up to the Secretary of Defense and won the war in Kosovo without losing a single American soldier.

Stopped a genocide because it was the right thing to do and then got early retirement because he stood up for what he believed in and for what was right.

Have you heard him speak? He's great one to one and fabulous in small groups but on Fox, he backs up what he says with logic, good sense and a dazzling incandescent smile.

7. If ever there was a time...
Now would be a good candidate--for the need of a true American leader. One who values the "Truth" and who also cares more for the people than for the Corporations and/or Wealth.

That seems, at least or especially among Democrats, to be an underlying need we all seem to be feeling. We're ready to pitch in if only we had someone to lead us, organize the masses and tell us what we need to do. For some reason without such we seem unable to do much of anything.

Terrific as far as I'm concerned. Gore is my favorite and I think that he'd be our best bet for achieving the reform we need, if he chose to do so. In any case, we need somebody to step up--and yesterday wouldn't have been too soon.

The all-caps 'WIMPS' could only mean one thing to my poor little brain. WIMPS.

15. And the usual meaning of 'wimp'
Edited on Thu Jun-15-06 09:34 PM by igil
simply didn't occur to me. I must get out more ... interact with people.

On edit: You're mostly right, I think. But while all wimps are the same, non-wimps come in many varieties. Some good, some bad.

* billed himself as a non-wimp, and spun Kerry as a wimp. Eh.

13. I'm with you, John. The Republicans are marching in lockstep
with Bush, either out of fear, or greed, or maybe a combination of both, or maybe something else. The Dems, when they do speak out, oftentimes back off and apologize when they are critized by the Republicans and the whackjob Righties. I'm sick and tired of it. I want someone -- no, I want more than just ONE someone -- to stand up and say, "I'm mad as hell and I'm not going to take it anymore." And call this Administration on its evil, destructive, killing ways, and NOT BACK DOWN when the other side starts crying "foul". THEY are the foul ones! They are the ones who are destroying this country. But the Spineless Ones are allowing this to happen by not standing up, speaking out, and not backing down.

27. When I read the article about what Lee Iococa had to say about
the Repugs, I was struck by how disgusted even the business community is by these guys. This is not the first business leader saying these kinds of things. He also made a point of how divided the Dems are. When will the Dems get real. When will they quit playing nice. Better to be outrageous and make headlines. We're all tired of CYA politics.

The only time my husband liked Kerry was the incident where he forgot to turn off his microphone and was overheard calling them "the dirtiest bunch of ?? That got his attention. He immediately started listening to Kerry and was dissappointed when he went back to being civil.

The debate in the House is rigged in the Repug favor. Why didn't Nancy Pelosi just stand up and say that since the Repugs had no intention of participating in an actual debate but were simply grandstanding, the Dems chose not to participate. THAT WOULD MAKE NEWS!

They are acting like WIMPS and I am really tired of it.

29. So was I. Murtha ain't playing politics. He's telling the truth. He's
not afraid of how he's polling. If every Dem in the House and Senate would start calling these guys out for what they really are, corporate shills, crooks and liars, we would win big time!!! Personally, I'm tired of the civility, I want them to stand up for what Dems used to stand for!!
