This whole episode is like watching the freak girl escaping from the circus and somehow ending up on TV - like one of those really really bad movies.

At least it used to be that way with Letterman.

There's always standby tix of course, but nothing that would fill the place.

She was pathetic, and so were they.

It sounded like half the audience.
At least 40%.

I've been to Late Night with David Letterman twice in the '80's.
I've been to Late Night with Conan O'Brien twice in the '90's.
And I've been to The Late Show with David Letterman twice in the past eight years.

Every time, tickets were given out WAY ahead of the air date and you had no way of knowing who the guests would be.

Standby tickets were usually good for a dozen people, tops.

Don't know how Leno does things but I'd be surprised if they'd let her pack the place like that.

Either way, it was an ugly display.

It would not surprise me if Coulter arranged to make sure that there were tickets for "her people".

I wouldn't have been surprised to see them tossing dollar bills on the stage, that would get her attention.

In any event, Leno is a corporate (NBC) whore for having the spiteful old thing on his program. Would he have allowed a Zionist or Arab crazy (and unfortunately there too many in both camps) to come out and spew poison? Of course not.

Maybe General Electric should revive GE Telivision Theater. Coulter could be its new spokesthing.

On second thought, I take that back. The last thing this country needs is a really mean-spirited Ronald Reagan in drag. :spank:

Audiences are miked through several channels so that in post-productiion audience response can be increased, decreased, or just generally evened out. What you *heard* on the broadcast has little relation to what actually took place in the audience. Post-production can make a group of three sound like the cheap seats after a grand slam in the bottom of the ninth. This is an entertainment venue in which the soundtrack of the audience is part of the show. It's trivial to manipulate what the television audience hears.

As for getting tickets, it isn't that hard. I got tickets to Letterman once an hour after thinking I might like to go, and I was in my seat a half hour after that.

Leno kept glancing nervously to the right as the Coulter fans kept making noise during his monologue and finally turned to the right as he made a comment about them. :shrug:

They emotionally buy into her anger. Who cares if she has no facts? They don't.

She's about had her 15 minutes of fame/shame. Most people don't like the thought of slamming widows and their children. It's not too classy.

Not many people caught that: the singer that followed the Nazicon disgrace had a huge sticker on her guitar that read "this machine kills fascists".

Her voice sounded like Melissa Etheridge but she's a lot better looking, her guitar riffs more intricate and, her composition more complex. She's Scottish, intense and easily likeable, all her lyrics were clearly sung.

She's trying to sell a book full of hatred. WHat if the words were directed against whatever heritage Leno is? Is he Italian? What if that was the object of her book? What if it was blacks? What if she disparaged the elderly? How about the disabled? Would that be okay?

What if she looked like Babs Bush? Would she get on the show?? If she didn't throw her dead blonde hair around like some aging cheerleader.. would she be on there? IF she didn't dress like a tramp from the 80's, bathed in spandex, would she be on that show? NO. Why does dressing like a starving hooker get you credibility?

Leno should fucking apologize to EVERYONE for having that human cesspool on his show. He should apologize the the families of the 9/11 victims for legitimizing that woman. He should apologize for his lapse in judgment. That bitch doesn't deserve a moment of airtime.. and I refuse to ignore her, because some people think that is the only way to fight her type of attacks. I'm tired of turning the other cheek.. I'm off to write to Leno right now... he blew it.
