Republican:US Would Be Speaking Japanese/German If Murtha Was Rep In WWII
Edited on Thu Jun-15-06 10:35 PM by kpete
Thursday, June 15, 2006

House Republican says America would be speaking Japanese or German if Murtha was congressman during WWII
by John in DC - 6/15/2006

Rep. Gohmert: Let me close by saying some have not had nice things to say about our colleague Mr. Murtha, and others wanting to pull out of Iraq quickly. I understand the faithful visitation that he does routinely. So i say thank god for his big heart. I say thank god for his compassion. Thank god for his visits to the wounded. Thank god for his ministering to grieving families. But thank god he was not here and prevailed after the bloodbaths at Normandy and in the Pacific or we would be here speaking Japanese or German. Thank you.

Rep. Murtha: Was the gentleman at any of those locations? Either at normandy or any of those locations?

Rep. Gohmert: You want to know which locations?

Rep. Murtha: Yeah. Normandy?

Rep. Murtha: I say were you there?

Rep. Gohmert: No, sir. I wasn't.

Rep. Murtha: Were you in Vietnam?

Rep. Gohmert: No, sir.

Rep. Murtha: Iraq?

Rep. Gohmert: No. I have been over there. I haven't been fighting.

Ann Coulter says US soldiers want to assassinate Congressman John Murtha
by John in DC - 6/15/2006

At what point will the traditional media finally accept that Coulter has crossed a line, jumped the shark, become a dangerous un-American freak?

Now she's suggesting that John Murtha should be "fragged" - i.e., murdered by US troops.

AMERICAN SOLDIERS ARE NOT FIGHTING TO SAVE "US" BUT DYING IN PRESIDENT BUSH'S UNCONSTITUTIONAL, ILLEGAL, UNILATERAL INVASION OF A SOVEREIGN NATION FOR THE SOLE PURPOSE OF SECURING THESE THREE OBVIOUS OBJECTIVES:

(1) EMPOWER CORPORATIONS
(2) GUT THE US CONSTITUTION
(3) DEFEAT ISRAEL'S ENEMIES

REGARDLESS OF THE COST IN AMERICAN LIVES, RIGHTS, OR NATIONAL TREASURE!

76. japan? Massive civilian war crimes
The US campaign against japan was firebombing and mass murder
of civilian populations on an unprecedented scale.

It stopped no madman, it was over the top. Even Le May himself knew
that if the US did not win the war, he would be tried for war crimes.

So what dirty secret are we covering up by wrapping it in a flag.

It would be deserved, it would play well (media whores would eat it up), and no one would blame Murtha for saying it.

In fact, it would improve his image among some.

44. Bring Back The White Feather For Republican Chicken-hawks!
One of the reasons I think that we Democrats have been losing elections as well as the hearts and minds of many of the electorate is because many of us have not only lost our ability to connect with much of America's electorate, but also because we have lost our sense of political theater. We need that sense of theater back--badly.

What continues to dismay me is that Democrats continue to let so many of these Republican chickens-hawks get away with slamming Democrats as being "cowardly" and "unpatriotic." These chicken-hawks deserve to be publicly humiliated. We ought to bring back the white feather.

During World War One, British jingoists handed out white feathers to every able-bodied man who either wasn't in uniform or was objecting to the war as imperialist. White-feathering could be updated and modified and used on the common ruck of GOPster politico--the ones who scream loudest about the lack of Democratic "patriotism," yet never went anywhere near a military recruiting office.

Imagine some of these chicken-hawk politicos having white feathers thrust at them--preferably by Democratic plants in the audience who DID serve in the US military--and their white-feathering recorded and publicized. That ought to make at least some sort of impression at the VA hospital and at the VFW hall.

Or will the state and national Democratic Party continue to give its continuing and limp response of doing nothing?

Add clucking sounds and you have got a great image of the Republican chickenhawk. Use it on all of them who are cheering on the war while real soldiers get maimed or die.

Of course, we have all those consultants who will tell us that this is too out there....

73. A Good Idea...And About Those Consultants...
I like your idea of of that little mother's blessing from Tyler morphing into a chicken-hawk with yellow feathers.

Of course I suspect that those political consultants have been so tightly welded to notions of playing it safe and non-controversial that they'd NEVER go for Democratic veterans handing Republican chicken-hawk politicos white feathers or a commercial showing the little fella from Tyler either turning into poultry or performing the chicken (hawk) dance. That's why we Democrats have been losing. We've been unwilling to admit that we're in desperate straights and it is long since past time to take the gloves off and stop playing by some Marquis of Queensbury rules about "fair play."

50. Chickenhawk Database Needs Revisions
I have written several e-mails to the Chickenhawk Database with names of Colorado and Texas congressional representatives who also never served in the military. Despite the fact that such as Tom Tancredo never went into the US armed forces, I would have been better off talking to a blank wall. Nothing ever happened, and I didn't get so much as an acknowledgment for my efforts. At least with the blank wall, you CAN get an echo even if nothing else happens.

stupid and nobody falls for them.

HEADLINE OF THE DAY

If it wasn't for a bad rock slide back in 230,000 BC, we might have all been speaking NeanderThal by now. It seems that a mean tribe of Neanderthals were planning to attack the cute little Cro Magnons, but a landslide wiped them out. If they had succeeded, we would all have been thugs by now.

HEADLINE #2

If Attila The Hun wasn't afraid of the cold, we would all have been Mongolians by now. It seems that Attila wanted to cross the land bridge connecting Alaska with Mongolia. He would have done it, if it wasn't so darn cold. Then the entire US would have been populated by Huns & we would all eat out Goat Leg dinner holding the thigh and throwing it away when we were done.

28. Actually, pinhead RWers fall for it all the time. I have OFTEN seen the
idea posted that somehow America will be taken over by Arab Islamic terrorists if the "war on terror" is lost.

By what mechanism this would be accomplished through terrorist acts, without large powerful armies, armored divisions, air superiority etc. to occupy a huge powerful nation like the United States, is never explained though.

30. Please, they should at least make their silly accusations
plausible.

If they wanted a scurrilous charge, they got it wrong. They should have said we'd still be speaking English. The best they could do is that England and Europe would be bilingual in Russian, and maybe Hawaii would be speaking Japanese. No low-life could avoid fighting the Japanese, but if Germany had been properly approached, I'm sure their declaration of war could have been dropped. (And then there'd be no Israel, hence no reason for Saddam--even though the Russians liked him; and since the Sa'udis didn't like the Soviets, and certainly wouldn't like having the Iraqi Soviet Socialist Republic on their border, they'd be nice to us. Hey ... you know, that might just have worked out better for us, in some oddball freeperish sort of way ... not for the Europeans, though.)

Maureen Dowd / Zell the hell Miller interview on the TV box, this was after Zell said he wished it was ole times so that he could challenge people to a duel in response to Chris Matthews chiding him.

Well Maureen and Zell were going at it(I think hussy was thrown in) shortly there after and Maureen ended with a great quote/question/challenge to Zell.

"Pistols or Swords?"

When I hear people like these Chickenhawks, I have to agree with Zell, I wish we were back in the days of less law cause people like *, Cheney, Dumsfeld, and all of the other Hawks would have had their asses kicked so long ago.

Murtha should have asked the Hawk to step out side for a little "Pistols or Swords"

Pearl Harbor: December 1941. 5 years later, not only were Germany and Japan vanquished, Hitler and Mussolini dead, and the war completely over, rebuilding was well underway and Americans were revered.

Almost 5 years after 9/11, public enemy #1 is still on the loose, the war in Iraq rages on, and Americans are reviled.

I guess Ann Coulter's book gave them the false sense that people would accept them bashing any Democrats. It will be interesting to see how this plays out.

59. ok folks there has to be a Democrat somewhere in the halls of Congress
that knows their history and will go after this idiot Republican. He needs to be called to the floor on this one. Go to any history book shelf in the Library and choose any unbiased U S History book and one will quickly see that this is quite the opposite. In fact if the Republicans would have had their way The Germans would have occupied Washington D.C and the Japanese would have been able to invade the mainland. Now the lend-lease agreement with Britain was nearly scrapped by Congress because of the Republicans (I could go on and on) but I'll give you one more. The Republicans did not want to appropriate money for tracking U-boats off our coast because they felt it was senseless.Any Fxxking Republicans that wants to make a statement like this needs to review their history first. Then they will no doubt keep their mouth shut..........This is just the beginning and the election is 5 months away......

69. Claude Pepper, my dear cousin,
almost single handedly drug the US out of its Republican-Bundist mentality. A lot of Republicans actually wanted to imnpeach FDR for Lend Lease...
Bad for business, ya know...until Harriman and Bush found out how to trade with both sides...Harriman dumped his stock fast enough to keep his butt clean, but Prescott wouldn't...
How is that for a dynamic duo: Harriman, who came to be a "grand old man of the Democratic Party" and Prescott Bush, the poster boy for nouveau riche Republican asshats as business partners! Gore Vidal's grandfather, Blind Senator Gore of Oklahoma was one of the key Democratic isolationists, by the way while his father was the first head of the FAA under FDR, and his mom went on to marry Jackie Kennedy's stepfather Hugh Auchincloss and had a daughter with him. Vidal absolutely devours the Washington isolationist set of the early 1940s in one of his novels. He isn't even very merciful on his relatives, either.
Come on Gore! You're still pretty spry, get off the Tim McVeigh tack and write a novel about the Bushes!

It would not do any good for me to write my Congressman since he is a Republican(but I will any way) and I have tried to email both of Indiana's Democrat Reps. but since I'm not in their district I cant get through..so here's what needs to be done..Please write your congressman and demand a public apology from Congressman Gohmert to Congressman Murtha for the disrespect and insult he showed him and the rest of the congressional body and the American people for bringing disgrace upon this Historic legislative body and the office that he is privileged to hold.Let it be known that if a Democrat would have pulled this shit, this would have made the "late breaking news" on every channel....
Go to hell Gohmert..

63. Truman: Democrat. Roosevelt: Democrat. Nixon/Ford: Republican.
So let's go over that again. The party in power that won WWII was the Democratic party.
The party in power that pulled out of Vietnam was the Republican party.

Which party is it, exactly, that cuts and runs?

The Hitler Project

Bush Property Seized--Trading with the Enemy

In October 1942, ten months after entering World War II, America was preparing its first assault against Nazi military forces. Prescott Bush was managing partner of Brown Brothers Harriman. His 18-year-old son George, the future U.S. President, had just begun training to become a naval pilot. On Oct. 20, 1942, the U.S. government ordered the seizure of Nazi German banking operations in New York City which were being conducted by Prescott Bush.

Under the Trading with the Enemy Act, the government took over the Union Banking Corporation, in which Bush was a director. The U.S. Alien Property Custodian seized Union Banking Corp.'s stock shares, all of which were owned by Prescott Bush, E. Roland `` Bunny '' Harriman, three Nazi executives, and two other associates of Bush.@s1

The order seizing the bank `` vests '' (seizes) `` all of the capital stock of Union Banking Corporation, a New York corporation, '' and names the holders of its shares as:
