Christian Wire: "Bill Clinton Insults Evangelicals"

Contact: Dane Rose, 202-546-8329 ext. 106; Rev. Rob Schenck, 703-447-7686 cell, both of the National Clergy Council

WASHINGTON, June 15 /Christian Newswire/ -- In response to former president Bill Clinton's remarks on Evangelicals during the Tanenbaum Center's awards ceremony, the Reverend Rob Schenck (pronounced SHANK), president of the National Clergy Council in Washington, DC, said, “Bill Clinton is in no position to pronounce judgment on anyone's particular sins. To denounce a whole group of Evangelicals is nothing short of religious bigotry. Not only so, but Mr. Clinton's remarks betray his ignorance of Evangelical theology. It was Jesus who said we can indeed, 'know the truth.' When we Evangelicals say we have the truth, it's only because we know Christ, who is 'the way, the truth and the life.' Mr. Clinton should stick to pronouncements on politics and leave theology to others."

Rev. Rob Schenck is a board member of the Evangelical Church Alliance, America's oldest continuous association of Evangelical clergy. President Clinton had praised some Evangelicals for their humanitarian efforts, but condemned others as sinful for "believing they were in full possession of the truth."

Rev. Schenck is available for further comment.

2. Bill's calling a spade a spade
The right wing fundies think they alone know the truth and all others are inferior. Kettle calling the post black. You got to laugh at the fundies.

Too bad they now dictate policy of the GOP. But W sold the soul of the GOP to these bigots.

5. They better hope Hillary doesn't win (Heh, heh heh!)
The Patriot Act and the NSA have given the White House ALL kinds of toys to use to keep an eye on "subversives" (if you know what I mean).

8. Well, the RW sins don't count, didn't you get their memo when they
knock at your door to convert you?

PS - It's called a youthful indiscretion, there is no known age limit, but guess what, you can claim to be a Born Again Christian and get away with every sinful thing you've done in your life! Well, that is if you are connected, powerful or have money, it all goes back to those damn indulgences, everyone can buy themselves or loved into heaven and if you are poor, unconnected and have no power, sorry Charlie, God wanted you to suffer because the above are N/A. <sarcasm>.

9. Haha, whatta maroon
Clinton spent his time praising evangelicals. The only group he showed his ass to was "the so-called Christian right." Manufactured umbrage is the lamest of lameness, Mr Rightwing Rev.
"For people in America who are a part of my political tradition, our great sin has often been ignoring religion or denying its power or refusing to engage it because it seemed hostile to us," he said. "For ... the so-called Christian right and its allies, their great sin has been believing they were in full possession of the truth."
