Whatever happened to the woman who murdered her
husband? They had 3 kids. She shot him in the
back in the bedroom. I cannot remember what
state this was.

The family photo that was posted showed the
parents, the baby and the 2 older girls and both
of them had *that abused* look about them.

4. Preacher's Wife; Indicted Today 1st Degree Murder
Only recent wife who killed her husband; there's that nutjob here who's case is being deliberated now but she stabbed her creepy husband a couple of years ago.

5. Can't think of her name now
but her case is being deliberated here. Her husband was her therapist when she was teenager, then he started screwing her then married her ... some years later she stabbed him, she claims in self-defense.

13. Thank You!
What a strange case. While the stabbing may not have been straight-forward self-defense, she does strike me as a woman who has been 'gas-lighted' for a long, long time. Perhaps that's my own bias, since I think a therapist who would sleep with his teenaged patient is creepy, especially considering how much emotional control any therapist has over a patient. A lot of patients go through a phase where they 'fall in love' with the therapist (and sometimes the therapist 'falls in love' with the patient) but a good, professional therapist would never act on those feelings, especially with so young a person.

Susan Polk's husband was stabbed, not shot. I don't know the name of the defendant in your OP.

23. Wasn't it in Tennessee?
Edited on Fri Jun-16-06 04:40 AM by tenshi816
I don't know why, but Tennessee sticks in my mind.

On edit: Yes, it was Tennessee if this is the murder referred to. It happened in March this year.

9. Well, between Dateline and 48 hrs. TX I think has been the
spotlight for murder. It is amazing how many murderers come from those dang red states. I am sure it's a coincident, not!

Oh, on C-Span yesterday some guy from Tenn (I think brought up the TX view of things as way different from the rest of the South) the Rep. (R) Conaway (who divulged he and GWB had been partners in an oil firm), which was not on his resume (per Steve).

16. Yep, TX is a different world.
I am going to go search again and try different
southern states and see if I can find anything.

I recall that the entire incident just dropped from
the news. No doubt if he was a preacher and messing
with the kids....

17. It is in McNairy County, Tennessee
about equidistant from Memphis, Nashville, and Huntsville, AL. It's got saturation press in 3 major markets due to that. He was a minister from Decatur, AL and they went to Freed-Hardeman University in Nashville together. She was arraigned yesterday and pled not guilty. She fled with the 3 kids to Orange Beach, AL and was extradited.
McNairy County is where AL, TN, and MS come together, on the Tennessee River, near Shiloh Battlefield.

18. Wow, detailed post. Thanks! Found article
The wife of a murdered West Tennessee pastor pleaded not guilty to killing him.
...

Winkler was indicted on first degree murder charges Tuesday for killing her husband Matthew Winkler. He was pastor of the Fourth Street Church of Christ in Selmer. Members of his church found his body on March 22nd when he didn't show up for Wednesday night church. Winkler's body was in the bedroom.
...

Winkler's attorney Leslie Ballin didn't want to talk about her motive. He says the statement Mary Winkler gave police also doesn't look like a confession to him.

/////....doesn't look like a confession. Interesting comment. I feel for those kids. If he was and she
did, I would not convict.

21. Rev. Winkler, the one killed by his wife,
allegedly, was not a therapist.

I think they are talking about the Polk woman killing her husband, who had been her therapist. There are two different cases, two dead, and somewhat creepy husbands.

22. They are currently being offered as much better than gay foster parents
1 man, 1 woman with little bit of church in their life. Everything fine.

2 gay men or lesbians - Horrors, they are going to harm the kids, only adopt them to turn them gay, blah, blah, blah.

24. There was an interview with her lawyer
either on CNN or Fox. And he said she told what happened and why and it would all come out at the trial.
