Ted Kennedy was just beautiful
on CNN in a live interview with Miles O'brien
This man just gave all our Democratic politicians a lesson on how to be clear, critical of the administration, and at the same time patriotic in the manner he did it. He makes great sense in so few words. It's no small wonder that he is so respected as the fine American senator that he is.

Our next Democratic candidate should watch this short interview over and over. In just a few short minutes, Kennedy summed up the entire Iraq situation and why it's time for us to leave. Not only did he do it in a manner that was totally positive toward our military, but he explained it so clearly that even the most right wing of neocons would be left with no choice but to believe what Kennedy has to say. Man this guy knows how to drive a point home clearly.

1. I wish that I would have seen this live ...
Over here on CSPAN's Fascist Friday with Brian Lamb, we are being made to salivate at the bravery for the lap dog press and our Dear Leader during their trip to Iraq.

BTW why does Brian Lamb reference The Drudge Report each time he's host for CSPAN? What's up with that?

Thanks for the scoop.

3. The remarkable thing about the way he did it was
Edited on Fri Jun-16-06 08:16 AM by mtnsnake
that he drove the point home (why we should get out of Iraq now) without even bashing a single Republican in the process. Kennedy was simply bent on explaining step by step what our military has done, calling them the finest in the world, but made it crystal clear how their continued presence in Iraq is a catalyst for the insurgency.

Anyone who listened to him will know that our continued presence in Iraq will do more harm at this point than good, and it's now up to Iraq to govern their own land, considering that the Iraq military now vastly outnumbers the insurgents. Without using the exact wording I'm using here, Kennedy makes one realize that the presence of Americans in Iraq is what keeps the insurgency ticking. He also explained how Iraqis won't be as apt to take control of their own destiny if they think Americans are going to stay in their country forever.

2. Ted really is quite an example
of dedication, endurance, honor. Personally, I have learned a lot (from afar, albeit) watching how he has survived seemingly unendurable personal tragedy, risen above his own obvious fallabilities and mistakes, to be the man and statesman he is today. The children of RFK, JFK, and all he Kennedy current generation have had quite the steady hand and role model in Ted, despite the unfortunate years of difficulty he personally faced.

I also think it says so much for the maturity and humanity of DEM/Progressives that we value true human triumph over both their external tragedies and those brought on by their own hand and human fallabilities. The RW loves to create a fake hero to idolize, aka Reagan, or the original depiction of GWB. We, on the other hand, have no need of caricatures.

Kudos to Ted. You have done your brothers proud...

6. The reason his head is so oversized is because he has a huge
brain.

8. Did you hear that asshole O'brien's first question?
paraphrasing 'everytime I hear a democrat talk about the Iraq war, I hear a different answer'. Go back to reporting on NASA Miles.

10. If the Dems were smart, they'd trash all the "strategists" and.....

just take Kennedy's message and approach to issues as a model for what a REAL DEMOCRAT stands for.

His brand of liberalism represents the REAL MAINSTREAM CENTER of America.

And he doesn't waffle or backtrack to softpedal liberal values.
