the job that Bush and the Republicans have been doing. Do they deserve to be rehired, is the question the voters should be asking? The whole debate in the House is to divide the nation up between Dems and Repubs. By doing that, the Repubs stand a much better chance of winning in November than if the debate is about the job they have or have not been doing. It is much better to discuss the Democrats in the most negative terms possible.

Democrats should try to focus the people's attention on the failed policies of George W Bush and the Repubicans, rather than on the persons of George W Bush and the Republicans. For example, the Democrats are in a much stronger position when they remind voters of the lies and deception that led us into Iraq, of the incompetence during the Katrina disaster, of the squandering of the surplus and the huge debt these so-called conservatives have put on the backs of our children and grandchildren.

Yes, Bush is an arrogant and incompetent asshole, but it is more productive for us to point out where he is incompetent, rather than trying to convince the American people that he is an asshole. That would only divide the nation into partisan lines and would play into the hands of the Republicans in November. They want to divide. That gives them better odds at winning the next election.

1. A Constitutional Amendment
is needed to "fire" an administration. It is a shame that impeachable offenses don't include poor job performance. How wonderful it would be if we were given a report card to fill out on issues affecting us and grade the administration.

2. I disagree...
if the system of checks and balances was working the way it should, we wouldn't be in this mess.

The Congress is weak and ineffectual right now, and the voters need to resolve to turn this around.

Then there's the issue of stolen elections.....

3. TheCongress is weak because it a GOP RubberStamp
Congress cpould stand up to the administration, and rein it in.

But it doesn't want to because it is a GOP Congress that basically just wants to be a rubberstamp of Bush.

The Demorats do have their own problems. Even if they can't defeat stuff numerically, they should be more united on the right issues, to provide a political counterpoint.

But the real problem is not institutional. It's political.

5. Ah, the big IF
The system has become so flawed that there are too many "if's." I don't believe we will ever see a strong congress again, so we the people need to have some input. Don't tell me elections are "we the people." I, personally, do not have any confidence in the electoral process.

4. The founding fathers were against
Parlimentary style Responsive government. Would not have gone over well with the Federalists.

6. Well, Perhaps a Federal Marriage Amendment
would not have gone over big either. We need to do the best we can for the common good. Getting rid of a administration that fails at their job would be for the common good.

8. Returd on afternoon drive in Clear Channel Cleveland was talking
in 02 about Bob Taft's re-election; said "If I worked for you and thoroughly screwed up, then came back and said you should hire me for four more years, would you? No."

And yet he gouged out his own eyes and punctured his own eardrums and told everybody to do exactly the opposite of his wisdom and re-elect Bush . . .
