The otehr night on the Tonight Show, Annie said she wears the outrage and scorn of liberals "like a badge of honor."

She obviously has some kind of primal need to be the center of attention, no matter what she needs to do to get it.

Sooooo, I'm going to turn the tables on Annie. Let's not get upset. Instead, let's really hit here where she lives -- Smack Dab in her Adolescent Ego.

Let's hit her with Apathy Bombs.....Even worse, let's hit her with the same kind of eye-rolling bemused tolerance that is usually reserved for teenagers when they act up. "Yes she's a pill, but that goes the territory of a teenager."

So, Annie I'll give your due. You're smart and funny, and kind of attractive, if one's taste goes to ultra-skinny whitebread wannabe's.

I'll also view you with the same way I view my bright, pretty but snotty 17 year old neice....The only difference is that I realize that my neice will probably grow out of it.

2. I would harbor a guess that Annie has Narcissistic
Personality Disorder. The DSM describes it this way:

At least five of the following are necessary for a diagnosis to be made:

* has a grandiose sense of self-importance (e.g., exaggerates achievements and talents, expects to be recognized as superior without commensurate achievements)
* is preoccupied with fantasies of unlimited success, power, brilliance, beauty, or ideal love
* believes that he or she is "special" and unique and can only be understood by other special or high-status people (or institutions)
* requires excessive admiration
* strong sense of entitlement, i.e., unreasonable expectations of especially favorable treatment or automatic compliance with his or her expectations
* takes advantage of others to achieve his or her own ends
* lacks empathy: is unwilling to recognize or identify with the feelings and needs of others
* is often envious or believes others are envious of him or her
* arrogant affect, haughty behaviors or attitudes

26. Has anyone ever heard her express empathy?
Ever? Has she ever expressed compassion? Condolences to those suffering? Is she capable of understanding another person's point of view?
Her range, that I've seen, consists of vague, broadside attacks. She doesn't counter anyone with hard facts or details. She is snide and sarcastic and easily irritated.
But I have never seen her express gratitude, consideration, or grace.
I think you're correct about her personality disorder. She's a puzzle with pieces missing.

27. The lack of empathy is a key point.
And it's not just mAnn, it's all of them. The Chimp and Dick the Prick are obviously sociopathic sickos. ("Please don't kill me!") And don't even ask about the likes of O'Liely.

They used to refer to America as a Bold Experiment. You want a Bold Experiment? Try a nuclear-armed super-power run by psychotic, criminally insane megalomaniacs. Now that's bold!

28. it does seem to be a common strain
I saw Mary Cheney recently during her talk show promotion for her book. (on Larry King's show). And I found her smug, self-satisfied attitude very representative of the conservative mindset. There is no genuine understanding of other people.
The mantra is "stay away from my stuff". It's all about the stuff. And the fear, and these are very fear-based people, that "someone" is going to get your stuff.
Even when, like Mary, you really didn't do much to earn that stuff. It was handed to you. But there are all those people out there...different races, different religions, immigrants...and they want what you have.
The horror.

OMG, THIS? I cannot agree with in the most infinitesimal way.

Republican = ipso facto and ergo, NOT smart.
Funny = Yeah, if implying John Murtha should be "fragged" is your kind of humor. Or maybe converting Moslems at the point of a gun is a larf-riot.
Kind of attractive = Totally succumbing to the notion that anything skinny and blond is by definition "attractive".

She's hideously stupid and evil, and about as funny as a shiv. As for looks: She's an anorexic Afghan hound.

13. She's as funny, attractive, and personable as a cackling fishwife hag
at a public hanging.

With only half the brains and talent.

And that is why fascists love her.

14. >>Response: YES I think she's attractive -- Until she opens her mouth
Edited on Fri Jun-16-06 09:45 AM by Armstead
Since I'm getting bombed about my "attractive" remark, let me elaborate.

I have to be intellectually honest. If she happened to be a liberal with a nice personality, I would find her attractive. There's no accounting for taste in such things. I'm a skinny, blonbe white guy, so my own inclination for the opposite gender goes towards the skinny.

But I DON'T find her physically attractive, because she has such an obnoxious personality and such horrid opinions. That gives her an aura that is extremely unappealing.....Soooooo, if the opportunity to spend "quality time" with her ever came along, I too would run the other way.

We also should be intellectually honest by not confusing physical characteristics with political positions. I suspect most of you would acknoweldge that she was at least average looking, were she not who she is.

She also fits one definition of physically "pretty" by certain societal standards. I am not talking about actual beauty. Just what would be said about some teenager in physical terms....Not a raving beauty -- but pretty in a boring, undernourished way.

However, you're missing the bigger point. Whether you think she is ugly or pretty or boring-looking, I was simply sayoing that we shouldn't contribute to the media machine that makes her more than she is -- which is an obnoxious narcissist who happened to find a way top parlay that into celebrityhood.

21. Have you looked at the photo of her on her new book?
I mean really looked at it? There's something wrong. I've heard all the rumors about her being a transexual. Always thought they were just ment to insult. But when I look at that pictue I know something is not right with that person. Can't tell if it's to much plastic surgery, or what.

What's wrong with this picture?

19. What a bizarre world we live in...
Once upon a time Progressives denounced racist hatemonger speech when it was cranks operating out of PO boxes in rural Idaho--now they just they just advocate we ignore it.

Message to cranks in Idaho--Get Yourself Booked on Leno and then Liberals will think your doing 'free speech' thang and shut up!!!

The angrier you get, the more you feed the beast and its' followers.

I wouldn't put her in the same category as those groups you refer to. They're a more complicated problem.

22. Oh no you didn't...
Yes I did get the point...and MY anger should be of less concern to YOU as sliding into tyranny.

"They're a more complicated problem."

No it's not...someone publically advocating killing political opponents like liberals is a serious matter regardless of whether YOU THINK the hatemonger poses a personal threat to YOU.

You have no love of freedom and as such your 'head in the sand' approach is dangerous and immoral--period

24. Two words -- "Lighten up"
Edited on Fri Jun-16-06 10:52 AM by Armstead
First of all you missed my point. The best way to counter an attention seeker is to deny them the attention and the response they are deliberatly trying to provoke.....The worst thing for Annie and her media machine to become would be irrelevant and boring.

Much as I dislike Coulter and what she stands for, the principle of free speech does apply. And, in her case, the more we get upset, the more we feed both her ego and the media machine that cashes in on her.

Also, freedom IS a comple subject. Especially whenb it comes to where the line between free speech and actual criminal intent is concerned.

The people who make dangerous plans are a lot different than people who say obnoxious things.

The cranks in the wilderness who want to really wipe out any non-white, non-Christian, non-ultra-right wing Americans and who are stashing away guns ARE a different matter than some shrill, shallow media celebrity.

And I think you'd find that most of Coulter's "fans" are geeks who were losers in high school, but couldn't land a punch if their life depended on it. That's a whole different matter than countering potential Tim McVeighs.
