Is there anything in the Iraq resolution that gives them ok for Iran?
Any language that can be nuanced so that Bush doesn't have to go to congress to attack Iran? Frankly I think he has it already with the first resolution passed priot to the war, but I was just curious if they are trying to pull yet another fast one.

2. "War on terror".
Also, remember we have a "decidership" now based on the "unitary executive". It also appears congress supports "regime change" with it's Iran declaration. Until the foreign policy of the United States changes back into wording it had previous to the current one written by neocons, we are a warrior nation seeking control and dominanace.

3. My interpretation.

The resolution ties Iraq to the global war on terror, making it the centerpiece. It also states that we will be victorious in the global war on terror.

These statements lend themselves well to the expansion of military action against other countries, like Iran. As long as Republicans control Congress, Bush can attack any country he wants under the guise of the global war on terror.

This resolution itself doesn't mean much, but the language is disturbing.

7. This is my thinking on this
I keep saying to my self he will not be this stupid as we just could not do it but then he has done so many odd things and spent so much money we are just in one big mess.I fear he really may try to take over and that is new in my mind. I used to think he was just grabbing power but now I wonder.

4. Yes. The same language W has been used to justify all his illegal activity
Basically, the language of the resolution provides Bush with the authority to do "anything necessary" to protect America from terrorism. Since that time, they've used it as justification for everything from the anti-constitutional provisions of The Patriot Act to the NSA spying. It doesn't matter to them, it's just a word game..."You said ah could do anything necessary to per-tect Amurka, hehehe, so ya see, things are necessary, and by nature those things are 'anything,' so ahm jest doin' what you told me ah could do! Hehehe."

6. on hardball last night, Duncan Hunter all but said that bush needs no...
prior consent to enter iran...republicans can say that they heard him say differently, but whatever he mentioned in that regard was just dancing; there's a noisy, pissy, mean spirited, anti-democracy group in that congress that clearly feels as though bush needs no restraint whatsoever.

the 'iraq resolution' & the doctrine of preemptive war amount to each nostril of the camel's nose.
