"Thank you all for coming," Bush told the audience, as he climbed to the bandstand and took a microphone in hand. "This is called Rodeo on the South Lawn.

4. as a musician, can I please say
we need a larger pukie icon for this story....

"We're doing Midnight Hour, A Thing Called Love and Born to Be Wild," said Bolten, the former White House budget director whose garage band once was called Deficit Attention Disordered but now is called The Compassionates. (See the full roster below).
....
This was quickly confirmed with The Compassionates' opening song, Midnight Hour. Fortunately, they had a couple of female singers.

I'm just glad I wasn't there.

7. My, isn't that special: a "rodeo" without horses.
We wouldn't want Dubya getting scared, would we?

9. In Los Angeles, we call that kind of rodeo...
RO-DAY-OH... as in Rodeo Drive. This scene is much closer to that than a REAL rodeo. The only difference is a stupid clown like that would be arrested on Rodeo Drive.

11. What on Earth was the point of this Rodeo? A weirdy party or something?
Taking dress-up to a whole new level? Is this commonplace? I lived in D.C. nearly all my life and never heard of anything like this. At least unlike his father he doesn't have teenage boys fresh from the meat market for his guests' enjoyment.
