I think Larry Johnson just jumped the shark.

Sacrificing Our Troops on the Altar of Republican Politics

Leave it to the Porcine Draft Dodger--Karl Rove--to impugn the character of combat veterans. Can't blame him for trotting out the same playbook that worked so well in 2004 against the candidacy of John Kerry. If it worked once it should work again.

Of course I am referring to Karl's speech Tuesday night to Republicans in New Hampshire. According to a piece in Wednesday's Washington Post:
"In a speech to New Hampshire Republican officials here Monday night, the White House deputy chief of staff attacked Democrats who have criticized the U.S. war effort in Iraq, such as Sen. John F. Kerry (Mass.) and Rep. John P. Murtha (Pa.), who he said advocate "cutting and running."

"They may be with you for the first shots," Rove said of such opponents. "But they're not going . . . to be with you for the tough battles."

Karl is a shameless bastard. This could explain why his mother killed herself. Once she discovered what a despicable soul she had spawned she apparently saw no other way out.
...

Sorry Larry but you just out-Coultered Coulter.

67. Their accusations don't concern me
And I don't care how they feel about us. My standards of decency aren't determined by what they do or think. That little crook, Rove, doesn't get to alter me that way.

If a kid said something like Larry did, I'd be horrified and counsel against it. I'd explain that it's a meaningless and unnecessary cruelty. I'd say it's likely to cause injury beyond its intended target, that there are far more constructive pursuits, and I'd probably say something about our better angels.

As for the political pragmatism behind denouncing something so shocking, let's take off our DU glasses for minute. Wouldn't the casual observer see as much ugly venom in this remark as in any of Coulter's vile statements? I don't see how that's an asset.

If it satisfies you to support such statements, enjoy.

Karl Rove is fair game as far as I'm concerned. If he can be deeply involved in the outing of a CIA Agent with absolutely NO consequences what so ever, continue working as right hand man and top advisor to the POTUS, and keep a high-level security clearance throughout the 'investigation', then EVERYTHING associated with Karl Rove is fair game.

We follow the principles of Christ and try and behave and rise above the gutter ...and yet the republicans are viewed as the party of god...well I say let em have it with both barrels...

I say give right back...perhaps it is wrong but I don't really give a shit anymore. I am tired of having our party be represented by pansies who do the right thing but don't breathe fire.

I don't mind impugning a reptile like Rove by invoking his mother's suicide. I really don't. It brings into question the quality of his upbringing, if not his very genetic makeup. But I don't like the speculation as to her motive. The question should be left to the mind of the reader, not slammed heavy-handed onto the page. "These things must be done delicately, delicately..."

a mother's suicide is not. I know they treat us in nasty ways and Karl is a wretched person.

But we don't know why his mother was in so much pain. There are so many other things to bash him for. His first dirty political trick as a teenager, his unpopularity in high school. Heck I read about him being seen at a homosexual orgy being paired with a 350 pound dominator. Mock anything. Just not his mother's suicide.
