Sacrificing Our Troops on the Altar of Republican Politics
by
Larry C Johnson

Leave it to the Porcine Draft Dodger--Karl Rove--to impugn the character of combat veterans. Can't blame him for trotting out the same playbook that worked so well in 2004 against the candidacy of John Kerry. If it worked once it should work again.

Of course I am referring to Karl's speech Tuesday night to Republicans in New Hampshire. According to a piece in Wednesday's Washington Post:

In a speech to New Hampshire Republican officials here Monday night, the White House deputy chief of staff attacked Democrats who have criticized the U.S. war effort in Iraq, such as Sen. John F. Kerry (Mass.) and Rep. John P. Murtha (Pa.), who he said advocate "cutting and running."

"They may be with you for the first shots," Rove said of such opponents. "But they're not going . . . to be with you for the tough battles."

Karl is a shameless bastard. This could explain why his mother killed herself. Once she discovered what a despicable soul she had spawned she apparently saw no other way out. It would be one thing if his vile tactics were simply mere smears of politicians like Kerry and Murtha. They are big boys and should be able to defend themselves quite ably against this turd. But Rove, like Josef Goebbels, has used fear and smear as his primary tools to keep George Bush in power. And to what end?

he is a former CIA agent was in Valerie Plame's CIA class back in 1985

10. I think that we can battle our enemies more
effectively than stooping to their levels and bringing deceased family into the matter.

I HATE ROVER MORE THAN ANYONE PERIOD - but a line was crossed, an unwritten rule was ignored.

This does nothing to help us I'm afraid

11. Just another thing for the right to pile on...
Although in any context, a remark like that is terrible. It surprises me that anyone would say something like that where it can reach so many people so quickly.

6. I think you just proved her point.
Rhetoric like his, and Coulters, does nothing but harm to our arguments. All but the most extremely rabid are LESS likely to hear the important information in this piece. It makes us all look like Ann Coulter.

12. How is a personal attack "standing up to the GOP"?
I, for instance, could respond to you by calling you names, sort of like what you've done. Instead, I'm responding to the substance of your argument. Would you like to bet which of us has convinced more people of the strength of our argument?

14. gotta say - this is something the republicans will foam at the mouth
over. Maybe he just wanted them to feel the outrage and get their attention. People are going to be talking about it, and even debating if Rove is an asshole or not.

In the scheme of things, Johnson did bad name-calling, but Rove has blood on his hands.

Word to Karl... Don't open the door to this shit, if you don't want someone to walk through it.....

get someone else to say it. That said, the comment did Larry Johnson no favors.
