TX Mom Fights To Keep Baby Alive-Bush Law Says Take OUT Breathing Tube!
A woman in Texas is fighting for the life of her baby- under a law signed by Bush, the hospital has the right to withdraw life support against the wishes of the mother, unless the family can find another facility.

Mom fights to keep baby on life support
By JAMIE STENGLE, Associated Press Writer
Thu Jun 15,2006

DALLAS - A woman at odds with a hospital over whether it would be futile to continue life support for her 11-month-old son has been given two weeks to find a facility willing to take the baby.

Daniel Wayne Cullen II was hospitalized in early April after suffering from a lack of oxygen when he pulled out a tube that was helping him breathe. He had a tracheotomy after his premature birth.

Brian Potts, attorney for Daniel's mother, Dixie Belcher, said the boy is in stable condition and exhibiting some brain function, but not at normal levels. He's also on a ventilator and feeding tubes, Potts said.

Last month, the ethics board of Children's Medical Center Dallas agreed with the child's doctor that continued treatment would be futile.

........................

Under a Texas law signed by then-Gov. George W. Bush in 1999, hospitals don't have to continue life support more than 10 days after their ethics board decides lifesaving measures are pointless. Families, however, have the right to look for a facility that will continue treatment.

2. I have talked to some pro-lifers about this
especially during the Terri Schiavo news, and though there are few who have are consistent about their stand, the others are either ignorant about this or they choose to ignore this hypocrisy. You better believe if this a law in Arkansas, when Bill Clinton was governor or better yet, the the law in Oregon , that allows doctor assisted suicide, the Dobsons are howling.

I see they have sic'ced CPS on the mom as well. It is just unbelievable how the pukes ignore the same things that they got up in arms about previously. I guess the little robots need Dobson to tell them how to think.

4. So when is Bush going to make an emergency flight to save this kid?
And the Republicans run to make an emergency session to save him?

Maybe all the Repukes in the House and Senate should get this news report . . .

6. While we're spending thousands treating a hopeless case, others are
dying for lack of basic medicine and medical care.
