Rove attacks blogs
Rove attacks blogs
Posted by Evan Derkacz on June 16, 2006

Karl Rove, the man whose living has rested on his ability to lie and connive in service of mobilizing hate and anger, had this to say about progressive blogs after the YearlyKos convention:

"The Internet for the Left of the Democratic Party has served as a way to mobilize hate and anger -- hate and anger, first and foremost, at this President and Conservatives, but then also at people within their own party whom they consider to be less than completely loyal to this very narrow, very out-of-the-mainstream, very far Left-wing ideology that they tend to represent."

His uncanny ability to describe exactly what HE does and sling it at his opponents while slack-jawed journos take notes provides endless dinner conversation as it weakens the nation.

AMEN.

I've never heard hate and anger from right-wingers...Any Blogs? Oh no, the hate and anger from the right wing is pushed to us on fucking public TV let alone someone's personal blogs.

I don't know if it is possible to hate people as much as I hate this crew.

5. That's his M.O., alright.
1). Bush is a coward, avoids combat in Vietnam by having his daddy make a few phone calls, gets moved to the top of the T.A.N.G. applications list, blows through many dollars of U.S. Taxpayer money on flight training, goes A.W.O.L., has the A.W.O.L. records scrubbed, steals two terms as President.

2). John Kerry, a decorated war hero, has his military record attacked by Karl Rove, a corpulent chickenhawk who never wore a military uniform. Rove claims Kerry shot himself in order to receive his Purple Heart. Kerry does not become President.

The cycle will repeat itself, endlessly, until opponents in any Rove-driven campaigns...mid-terms or 2008...realize that they will not win unless they become determined to beat him at his own game.

8. Yeah, Karl Rove, I agree
Edited on Fri Jun-16-06 12:42 PM by Marie26
So there. Ban me. It's kind of ironic that we're blasting this statement while another thread is praising a comment about his mother's suicide. Hate & anger? Oh yeah. In another thread, people are blasting anyone who disagrees w/them as "Rove Operatives" & trolls. Then there's the endless DINO/DLC'er flames against politicians who are not considered ideologically pure enough. I'd say that's a pretty accurate description or the worst side of the liberal blogosphere. Of course, he ignores the good side - the ability to organize, mobilize, share information, & expose the Republican tricks that Rove specializes in. The Internet is a great resource & a great way to fight the Bush Admin. & the MSM stranglehold on information. But to the extent it devolves into nastiness & fights, IMO it's distracting from what should be the main agenda. Rove's scared of the blogs, & he should be. There's so much potential good that can come from this new kind of media, if it doesn't end up self-destructing from infighting. Oh well, it doesn't much matter what Rove says anyway - no one outside the MSM really listens anymore anyway.

16. I disagree, spreading hatred of Bush
and terrorizing his appeasers in our own party are the only things we do that really threaten Rove. He knows that us playing fair and clean and moderate will continue to net us losses, and he knows that moderate Dems tend to take criticism to heart. (As if he was a straightforward public figure and not an expert manipulator of masses of people.) My tendency would be to reverse his logic, pinpoint what he says is our weakness and amplify it to a fever pitch.

20. Interesting idea
I guess it depends on the approach - do you want a smaller audience of dedicated, motivated "bomb-throwers" or a larger audience of moderates/mainstream Dems. My feeling is that terrorizing "appeasers" can turn off a lot of Dems/Ind. who might otherwise be switching to blogs for political news; but, I guess I can see a fearless, mobilized, passionate & "mean" blogosphere potentially being more of a threat to Rove.

22. Remember when everyone loved Bush?
The 90% days? I think the hatred has had an impact, it's not just ratiocination (obviously) that drives what people think. There needs to be a bandwagon there before most folks jump.

I don't really think of DU as a news site, there are easier places to get left- or dem-leaning news. Too much noise here, and nothing really to be done about it. Then again, this isn't really a "blog."

Remember, the RW used the internets before we did, they spewed nothing but nastiness and lies and they actually got their impeachment. I know we have a tougher row to hoe not holding the Congressional majority, but I'm happy to adopt the tactics that worked in the past... Especially since we don't even have to lie to be nasty!

23. there is no denying
a large strain of hate and anger - at Bush, Repukes, Bushbots, Fundies, Talibornigains, FReepers, Trolls, etc., but it is not all we are about.

But can we compare this to Limbaugh, Hannity, Coulter, O'Reilly who are reaching much larger audiences with their message of hate and anger? Who drew first blood, and what is the logical response to lies and hate?

The left blogosphere is made up of people who are more aware of the mendacity and insidiousness of, first and foremost, this pResident and Conservatives, but also the doormats and sell-outs of their own party who either enable the Worst President Ever or just roll over for him again and again.

Yes, we are trying to spread the word, because if the majority of Americans knew what liars and thugs and crooks the Bush Administration is and has been they'd be just as angry as we are.

29. Yup, this very far left, out of the mainstreat, very narrow
ex-Republican wants to get the hell out of Iraq, just like the other 2/3 of the country which must now be defined as very far left, very out of the mainstream.

Yet to diagnose a brain dead woman, call for a Gay Marriage Amendment, lie about reasons for going into war, make fun of 9/11 widows, call for the impeachment of "activist judges," and call for the death of Justice Steven and the fragging of Murtha are all mainstream activities and positions which all Republicans can be proud of.

If I am out of the mainstream, so is 2/3 of my country.

32. You Can Tell He's Back In The Repunk Driver's Seat
Ever since he got off this week, the whole Repunk Lie Machine has been whirring in overdrive -- and the whole projection thing of accusing your opponents of your own worst weaknesses has reached a new low with the House debate. And the pussy-whipped DC media gets the ball gag shoved back in their mouth with a smile (sorry, I've been reading The Rude Pundit). I've even noticed the Bush Ass-Likkers in hyperdrive this week with, of course, just this claptrap.

We've had a few good months, but this undoubtedly really has been Bush's biggest week in at least the last year and a half ...

... but remember: for all of it, Bush has gained exactly ONE POINT in the polls.

ONE POINT.

America hates Bush and the Republicans. All the Republicans are trying to do is to make most of America hate Democrats enough for Democrats not to go to the polls and allow them two more years of evil.

Don't let them (or at least go after the DC Dem Losers to minimize their inability to take advantage of any of this).

33. Yesterday's online poll to the question "Do you think that
electronic voting should be eliminated entirely"? 87% said yes. That's no fringe minority as Diebold
described the people opposed to electronic voting. 60% don't approve of Bush. And in another online poll, only 1% of those who voted believed that Bush was working for the American people, 1%. That's no minority percent.

Hate & anger are calling cards of Repukes, Karl just missed one - ignorance. For Karl, this is a battle to control the flow of information on the Internet. If they can do away with net neutrality, then the BFEE can intimidate or bribe companies to fuck up left leaning websites.

Oh and the stupid shit about very out of the mainstream, let him spew that one all he wants. It just sends Repukes fleeing into the Dems open arms! Don't take my word for it, just look at recent poll numbers for President Dumbass (whoops that hate makes me so angry). NOT. :eyes:
